Berry's vs. RMS

Last Friday I ordered plated bullets from Rocky Mountain Supply and Berry's. The orders were placed minutes apart. The intent was to see how quickly each would deliver in stock items to me, the consumer.

The race was on.

Monday RMS sent an e-mail saying my order was shipped. Excellent.
Tuesday I received an invoice from Berry's. No word on when my order would be shipped.

Thursday, today, both orders were delivered.

So it was a good clean race, and it ended in a tie. Excellent service from both suppliers.

RMS - 500 9mm 115gr HP. I've used the Berry's 115gr RN and the accuracy in my gun with my loads was not spectacular. I'm hoping for better with the longer HP bullet. Free shipping.

Berry's - 500 .45 cal 200 gr SWC and 250 .38 sp 148 gr WC. Free shipping over $75, so I needed to order more to get over the threshold.

Stay tuned for results once I get some loading done and the weather warms up enough to visit the range. If the RMS bullets seem good I'll be ordering their .45 cal 200 SWC to compare to the Berry's version.

Direct from Berry"s is not the least expensive route. Some of the resellers are less. I have good success using Berry's 9mm 124 RNHB TP and Berry's 45ACP 185 RNHB. I purchase from Powder Valley or TJ Conevera.

Thanks for the tip. Berry's on-line prices are as good as any local retailers, and if you can get free shipping there is no transportation costs to get to the store. Then again, no entertainment for visiting the store either.

Berry's 115gr PRN and RMS 115gr PHP have been loaded with the same and similar loads.

Berry's 115gr PRN loads:
4.8 SR7625 - should be a mid level load
6.0 Power Pistol - Expect this to be a little light
6.5 Power Pistol - left overs from last range trip, these are a little hot.

RMS 115 PHP loads:
4.8 SR7625 - for comparison to the Berry's load
6.2 Power Pistol - expecting a mid level load

I just need a warm day for a range trip.

We've loaded 500 rounds of Berry's (we normally load montana gold or precision delta…more later on that) but unfortunately, we are on the road and don't have our reload data with us. Our opinion is that they were good range fodder. We really like montana gold!!
They just seem really accurate. The precision delta seem good but just a little less accurate. Again, I can't give you load data, but with the montana gold and pd we used titebond powder.

Range Day Report

The RMS 115 PHP performed better than the Berry's 115 PRN in my gun with the same powder charge and primer using the same cases.

I have not found an accurate Power Pistol load in my cm9 yet.

Here is what I was able to do with SR7625:

One of the 10 got away from me. At least I don't see a double, and I count 9. Sigh...

The same load with Berry's 115 PRN's was a little hotter - flattened primers. I plan to reduce this load by a tenth or two to see if the accuracy holds up, based on the assumption that in warmer weather we'll have higher pressures. If it works out I'll chronograph the load - after the snow is gone.

As always all reloading data seen on the internet should be verified using trusted load data sources. I cannot be held responsible for your reloads.

I tried a little Acapulco Gold once , but never had the pleasure of using Montana Gold. :)

I've shot a ton of RMR bullets this year out of my CM9 and my glock 19. Haven't tried power pistol but I did load alot of them with unique and bullseye with good results.

Power pistol is my go to powder. It's relatively clean burning, meters well and is low flash. I'm using it in everything from .380 ACP to .45 ACP. I still keep a little Unique and Bullseye around as a couple of old friends. I stuff my rifle cases with Dupont IMR powders and Winchester ball goes into my shotgun shells.
