Hi everyone. This is my first post. I will be getting my cpl this summer and I'm looking for a carry gun. I believe the cw9 will be more comfortable to shoot. However, I will probably want to pocket carry during the summer months so the cm9 would be better in that respect. Does anyone have both models? If so, which do you prefer? Is the recoil similar for both?
Thanks for the help!
No brainer, CM.. more versatile..
The CM with an extended mag has the same grip length as a CW.
Extended mag for more grip IWB and flush for pocket carry.

Thanks Rubb! I was thinking the same thing. I can always make the CM9's grip thicker or longer.

I recently purchased both but haven't fired the CM9 yet. The CM9 is has the advantage for concealability but the extra grip length on the CW9 feels better in my hand.
The CM9 with the extended magazine is not the same as having a CW9. With the extended magazine you have a pinky grip but the back of the handle is still shorter.
For concealed carry only, the CM9. For nightstand only, the CW9. If you can only have one, the CM9 is it.

I owned the cw9 and it was awesome comfortable gun that really disappears in an iwb holster. My mom wanted it so it's hers now. I ended up with a cm9 and couldn't be happier. Conceals even better(I wear more fitted clothing) and works like a charm. But because I wear more fitted clothing I can't pocket carry, so it's iwb for me which I'm fine with. Love my cm9 and I think you will be happy with the cm9 sine you want to pocket carry.
But now I bought a Walther pps which is the same size as cw, so you might get the itch to have both sizes :) we all do!

What he said is pretty much true, but only if pocket carry is the big issue. If you think you might carry more IWB, then there's not a huge difference between the two ... unless you're carrying AIWB, in which case the extra half inch can be a little bit more uncomfortable.
Having said that, I mainly posted so that I can get myself a little bit closer to 1,000 posts.

Haha, that's good stuff!
I only want 30 posts so I can have a cool avatar. But let me say... Both guns will shoot wonderfully. Take the CM for conceal ability and wonder along with me why Kahr even makes the CW.

CM9 for pocket carry. For belt carry I'd widen my search beyond the CW9 whether staying inside the Kahr line or not.

If you are only buying one and pocket carry is required, the answer is the CM9. I pocket carry a PM9 and belt carry a CW45.

The K9 is a very well-liked and respected gun in Kahr's all-metal line-up. The CW9 is basically the same-sized gun, but in the cheaper polymer version.

Iwb cw9. Pocket carry cm9. You choose. Honestly the best would be a covert. I like the longer slide and barrel.
Maybe this will help. Pm9 and cw9 same size.

I went cabelas today and got to hold the cm9 and cw9. I've held the cw9 before but this was the first time I got to hold them side by side. I liked the feel if the cw9 better. I didn't buy it from cabelas because they're a little overpriced. So I came home and ordered the ce9 from CTD. Thanks for the input everyone!

Congratulations. I've had my CW9 for about a month. So far I really like it.

CW9 should work out nice for you especially if you're carrying IWB. 7 + 1 of some outstanding SD ammo and a spare mag or maybe a pocket .380 BUG and you're good to go.
Good luck!

You made the right choice because....they're both great guns. No way to "lose" making that call. Now go out and shoot that sucker! :)

I did the cw9 as well because I have bigger hands and it just felt more comfortable. I don't have a ccw yet but when I do get on I don't see the size of the cw9 being an issue to carry. My though is get and carry what feels most comfortable in your hands. I think you did it exactly right by going somewhere you can hold them both at the same time to see which is more comfortable for you.
