I am wondering if on the cm9 when the slide is forward and there is no magazine in and you push up on the slide stop should it stay up or should it be pulled back down by spring tension?
How you pushing it up when the slide is forward?
Did you ask a trick question?

Not trying to be confusing sorry. But what i mean is my slide stop has movement when the slide is forward and i was asking if that was normal. It doesnt move up all the way, but it has movement. I am wondering if that could be an indication that the spring underneath needs to b tightened Thanks for the reply.
Tom,
When installed correctly, the slide stop is held downward, away from the path of the slide, by the spring. That allows the gun to cycle normally, with each shot fired. Otherwise the stop would engage the slide, and lock it open after every shot is fired.
It is the magazine follower that pushes the slide stop upward to hold the slide open on the last round. Because it is stronger than the slide stop spring, the push of the mag spring prevails and the slide stop is pushed upwards against the slide after the last round is stripped from the magazine. Then, upon ejection, the stop engages the slide, holding it open.
Now to your question...
The slide does not ride directly on the stop. There is clearance between the stop and the slide. So, if you push upwards on the stop, enough to overcome the tension of the spring, the stop will move upwards until it contacts the slide. That is normal. If it did not move upward, the magazine spring would not be strong enough to engage the stop on the last round.

Ok thank you. My concern is that on mine when i push up on the stop it stays up. I am wondering if the spring tension should bring it back down or is this normal. I am speaking about with no magazine in and slide is forward.

post #5 describes this very well.
just out of curiosity, i checked my cw45, the slide lock will push up and stay, BUT not all the way.
It drops a couple of thousandths of an inch and with almost no effort, will drop back to parallel to the slide.
hope that helps

the slide stop should have tension always wanting to push it downward. If u have to uch neutral spring tension, then u "might" just possably get a premature slide stop . U can just tweekthat little spring tip downward a tad. I wou78ld not recommend tryin to tighten the little screw as it really doesn't ever TIGHTEN as it screws into plymer, so SNUB is good, tweek the end if u so desire. BUT if the gun is doing well as it is right now, then if it ain't broke, don't fix it:Amflag2:
