2 day old 1911 with 100 rounds shot. had several feed issues. upon disassembly noticed gouges on the inside of the slide on that top shiny rail (not sure name).

Are these gouges something to be concerned about and might be causing the feed issues or a non-issue?

non issue, just shoot it likeu stole it. I would bet it was there from the git go... that is ur magazine round pick up bar, some call it the interface bar..

tx_native,
Any damage to the top of your magazines?

Zero issue. You should see the tool marks on some 1911's. Even high end ones.

If the pistol cycles easily with no unusual friction and shoots well, then I'd not be concerned. If you feel or hear something rubbing when you cycle then I'd want to know what it is.

sorry, should have mentioned it is a para expert carry (3 inch)

doesnt function properly. out of 100 rounds about 6 failures. going back to range today.

returned from range with another 100 yards down range. apparently my initial problems were operator error. i guess i wasnt that familiar with the slide. 100 perfect rounds and dead nuts accurate from 20 yards.

It isn't a problem mechanically, but it isn't very pretty cosmetically. As a machinist I took more pride in the work that I turned out. Just sayin.

Never ever, I mean never admit operator error, it happens all the time but never ever, I mean never admit it. Always something or someone else to blame it on.

I had a second-hand S&W 4506 that had a nasty gouge where someone had fired it after improper assembly... barrel slide match up. I smoothed it a bit and pressed on. I eventually sold it. The gouge did bother me, but had too many S&W .45's and sold the newer one.
