View Full Version : if you think Kahr customer service is poor.....
I called Noveske today, to check on the rifling of a new barrel, which was supposed to be polygonal.
Its not.
As it turns out, its a Pac Nor barrel, that has canted rifling, not polygonal rifling, or polygonal bore for that matter. Trapezoidal rifling is the better name.
Anyway, the ditz at Novekse says yes its polygonal rifled. I asked "how can you call it that?'
She said "because it has five lands and grooves, which is a polygon. If it had six lands and grooves it would be a hexagon".
If there was ever a real life blond moment, folks, I just lived it.

Should of told her you wanted a dexagonal rifled barrel. That 5 lands and grooves were for women not real men.
Should have told her I wanted a sextagonal barrel with 6 grooves and 9 lands.
Seriously.... what crock of baloney.
They say "polygonal rifled", but it turns out... its not. Then you have to run down the vendor, and then Noveske (priceless!) and then end up at the actual barrel manufacturer to get to the bottom of trapezoid rifling. Jeeze. Madison Avenue at its finest... its all hype, all showmanship.
Having dealt with Kahr Customer Service, I can say, barring maybe Ruger's support... Kahr does a good job, one of the best. In a consumer driven market (and we have that in the firearms industry right now), customer support is what makes or breaks the company outstanding, or "also ran".

Both Kahr and S&W have shown me outstanding customer service.

In truth to shooters in the know you really have only 2 types of rifling. traditional land/groove and everything else.

I think the lesson here is that the gun industry is rife with scams...just like in the audio world...one of me other hobbies. As an example, I bought a $4 tube of grease that will lube all of my firearms for the rest of my life if I choose to, and so far have with great success, yet people will pay 20x times more for the same thing...because it's the new "wonder" lube.
Numerous AR companies use FN barrels for example, some charge reasonable money, some went full retard.

You guys do understand that no company can afford to hire a knowledgeable gunsmith to answer the phone in customer service. The person who answers the phone in customer service is just one notch above of the pimple faced kid who takes your order at McDonald's. This has been a Public Service Announcement from the Muggsy reality check company. Any resemblance to a certain Limey who over buffers is purely coincidental. :)

I believe that some may be rejects from the Oblamea insurance help line................
To their credit, Noveskes help does not aspire to move to the USA and maybe someday sell Slurpies or donuts.
