Some people just like to make life difficult. I understand their concerns, but when he made it clear that they could walk away, that's exactly what they should have done. To stand there and try to school a Leo on the law, is just a waste of time, because in court, in won't matter. Who do you think a judge is going to side with 99% of the time..........

Cop was very cool ...

These individuals are the type making it tough for the rest of us, who also know our rights, but don't have to prove it, by acting like a Jackal.

Can you spell M-O-R-O-N

What's that saying....just because you can, doesn't mean you should? Yup, the cop showed quite a bit of patience - good on him. Not sayin it's right, but this scenario would have played out a lot differently in these parts.

Oregon is loaded with these types. I saw a video of a guy and his cousin in Springfield OR. going into a police station while open carrying because he could under OR. law. Cousin is taping the whole thing. They sit in the hallway for quite a while with the camera rolling. Finally an officer walks by and asks them if he can help. The idiot informs the office that he's legally open carrying and knows the law, says he wants to file a complaint against the police for harassment. Cop says he'll get someone.Goes into a locked door area and no one comes out.
Time goes by and the battery in the camera dies. Cousin goes out to the car to get another one. This guy now gets testy with the next officer that comes by. Out come more cops and they relieve him of his piece and handcuff him.
AH ! now he got what he wants on camera, police harassment. They question him in a room facing the hall with the door open. They tell his cousin to stand at the other end of the hall if he still want to record this.
Guy's preaching about his rights of carrying in a police station. But the building that this station is in is also a court house. And it's a big no-no here to carry in a court house.
Camera battery goes dead again. Cousin goes gets another one.
I knew that the cops would eventually let this jerk go, that they were playing with his head.
The guy walks out strutting because he won his point, 4 hours later.
Police had to let him go because the courts are in a different wing of the building and I believe they knew it.

We get them from time to time up here as well. Usually in the summer when it's a nice day. The guys have a lot of fun with them.
In another thread long ago I told of all our plain clothes armed folks being notified when we get these and stage ahead of them so when they are trying to teach the cops their rights a whole bunch of armed people just stroll by without notice.

I'm all for supporting the constitution but this is the wrong way to go about it, certainly doesn't do our cause, the right and just cause any service that's for sure.

Here's a sort of related question which I've been wondering about ... does the concept of "open carry" mean that anyone can carry openly. I was in Virginia back in October and was told that it was an "open carry" state ... and I did in fact see one person carrying openly while I was there. But the question no one could answer for me was this ... does "open carry" mean only Virginia residents can open carry, or does it mean anyone can open carry? I know that Virginia does not recognize my Connecticut Concealed Carry Permit, so I could not carry concealed there, but could I open carry in Virginia?

The rules vary state to state...In Georgia we can open carry a handgun or long gun on your person or visable in your car anywhere it's legal to have a gun.... Currently Bars, Churches and College Campuses are off limits but there is talk of changing even that hopefully.... Having a CCW license is the only way you can carry concealed on your person or in a car glove box or console.......

Granted it's legal to open carry here but if you walk down Peachree St with an AR15 slung over your back or with an open handgun showing you can expect to be stopped and questioned by the Police and the Officer will most likely not be anywhere near as nice and reasonable as the one in the video...

IMO these jerks that open carry with a video camera trying to goad the Police into an illegal arrest need to have their punk a$$ beach slapped and sent back home to play video games because it really hurts people like us who just want to be law abiding CCW carriers...

I learned to ignore these open carry a-holes. They are all constitutional street lawyers. Some day they might just find a little street justice.
