View Full Version : How NOT to disassemble a magazine for CW9

Hi all, first post in this excellent forum. I just bought a CW9 and happy with it. Also bought an extra magazine, the 920G 8-round with extension grip. My first outing at the range and the stock 7-round mag fired fine but the 920G would not seat all the way into the grip, and would fall out after firing one round.

I took the magazine to the gun shop and it inserted correctly into other CW9s they had on display. So the issue seems to be that my CW9 grip is a bit long. I'd expect something like that from a $150 cheapo gun but the CW9 was over $400.

I'll be danged if I'm going to send a brand new gun back just to deal with a grip that's 1/32 of an inch out of tolerance. But I may have to if future magazines won't seat into the mag catch. However, I decided to Macguyver the magazine base a bit and make it work.

Below is my video about it. And while giving my brilliant tips on how to disassemble the magazine I still screwed it up royally and nearly shot my eye out! Have a look. Have a laugh. And maybe it will help other newbies like me who decide to open up their mags.

(The fail moment occurs after the 8-minute mark, if you want to jump ahead past the stuff that experienced users already know.) Thanks!

Nice video, Pete. Welcome to KahrTalk!

It's nice to see a new owner who is willing to make a small adjustment, if needed. There are a ton of friendly helpful folks ( and Jocko, too ;) ) who are willing to help fix an issue. But it looks like you've already diagnosed it and resolved it. That puts you waaay ahead of the curve.

All my 8 round mags are the exact same way on my cw9. Light sand paper and the problem is fixed. Same for a friend of mine. Not a huge deal however.

Pete, you need to get into comedy. That was priceless. I especially liked the sound effect. I admire you for having the courage to post it. :)
