My new to me MK40 elite 03 I just got I took it to the range today and it ran 100%! I tried it with wood grips and plastic grips. The wood soaks up a little of the recoil. It looks good but I put the plastic ones on and shot it which was to me was more accurate. I shot 55 rds and some was fed 180 which was real stout in recoil and the pmc 165 was less recoil. Which is my experience in general and always preferred 165 in the small guns usually more accurate. I had a covert elite 98 I wished I kept that recoiled less then this one. I can tell a bunch of changes made on this vs my old one. I have the serial number and will be looking for it if someone runs across it.

For me my MK40 Elite 03 seem to have less felt recoil with 180 gr sub sonics.
In my hands it seems to group better with 180 gr rounds as well.
I usually carry it with Speer GDHP Short Barrel 180 gr defensive ammo.
All my other, larger, 40 S&W guns run 165 gr HST or Ranger T.
I like an inverted Houge Handall Jr grip sleeve on mine.
It fills my hand better and absorbs some of the recoil.

I had put the same grip on mine. I had one on my old covert back in early 2000's. Ive not shot it. I really think I was shooting some 180 fed hst before. Hope to shoot it tomorrow.
I know your grip is reversed. Mine is not. Otherwise your gun is just like mine. It made a difference on my covert.
