I decided to give plastic one more try. Resigned to the sad fact that we'll probably never see a K45, I got the next best thing - a PM45.

Never saw so much oil on a new gun! But it came with three magazines instead of the two as advertised! And an orange zip tie for a chamber flag. Looks like a first class weapon. Can't wait to do the proper prep ritual and go break it in!

Same as mine! I was surprised to see three mags instead of two when I picked it up from my FFL a couple weeks ago .. I shot mine for the first time today (range report here in the threads), it's pretty awesome! Enjoy that beauty!

I saw your Hogue grip, I'm going to try my leftover inner tube first.

Cleaned and prepped, ready for break-in. Inner tube snugly seated around cheese grater...

Congrats! And good luck... I hope yours is trouble free. It took a bit of help to get mine reliable and working correctly, but it's fine now and I just take it out, hold it on the palm of my hand and just marvel at how compact and powerful a pistol it is!

IMO, u bought the best thing in the PM45. smaller, lighter for sure and maybe becauseof both features u will carry it alot more. Goodluck. certainly do the prep on the gun. Don't go out not knowing tha thte gun is clean lubed, andput together correctly...:behindsofa:

Comparing its size and weight to the others I carry, yes this will get carried!

One thing to note, I disassembled the mags, checked that the springs weren't backwards, and sprayed the hell out of them all with brake cleaner. They were all very sticky, even the inside of the mag. When the followers would slide cleanly down the tube, they were clean. I have a feeling sticky followers or springs or packing goo inside the mag could cause feeding issues.

Some photo comparisons:

Hard to believe, but the dainty little Sig P238 isn't much smaller.

Bersa UC45, Sig P238, PM45, K9

PM45 and K9 are, for all intents and purposes, identical in size.

My hands aren't large, but the PM45 sure looks small. If only Kahr made a metal base plate so that I could get a flusher-fitting one. I tested a bunch of 6-round Officer model mags, but never got one that would keep the slide open on empty reliably. I got tired of fooling with them before some guys tried altering the follower more than I did.

The stock "flush-fitting" polymer fits my hand nicely, but I would rather have a smaller length of grip/mag base.

I'm sure that I could get something for a P45 whenever I get one of those.

would not a floor plate assembly from a like Pro mag fit the kahr mag tube? Justy askin.

The only thing that I've seen was an old S&W 645 mag base plate. The side rails on that were "compatible", but the shape to the front was wrong tube-wise. I would need to round off the front after shortening it.

That's why I was looking at O-6 mags... with or without removable METAL bases. They protrude less than the 5-round Kahr polymer-based mags, but gave another round. I built up the exposed part of the tube with that binding silicon tape and then trimmed it, but lock back on empty was very iffy. The Kahr followers can be used but they take up too much space and give up a round of capacity.

Like I said, I got tired of fooling with all of those mags and just use the regular 5-rounder. I carry the 7-round extended-grip mag for a reload. So I have as many rounds as my G21 SF can carry in one mag... 13, but a lot smaller package.

Well, after comparing me to you, she would say that.

CJB, did the Sig base plate with the additional round function well?

And...

204 rounds of FMJ, zero failures! :amflag:

Two handed, strong hand, weak hand, limp wristed, it all worked. Recoil wasn't bad at all, nothing like what I expected. It's a healthy kick, but nothing crazy. My PF9 was way worse. In another PF9 comparison, the PM45 gave me a good blister at the base of my thumb just like the PF9 did, but I don't expect to shoot 200 rounds at one time again.

It doesn't really feel broken in though, everything is still tight as can be. Racking a round into the chamber took great strength and the mags were tough to get seated. I'm sure it'll loosen up with more shooting.

I take it as a good omen when your first three magazines hit COM of the target without trying very hard.

But don't ask me about my 15 and 20 yard targets, what happens at the range stays at the range. I didn't expect much anyway at those distances out of a 3" barrel and my fatigued hands and near sighted eyeballs.

Next time I'll try some JHPs, but I'm already thrilled with this pistol!
