View Full Version : Video of source of "click" in my CW9

If you didn't see my other post I'll briefly go over the issue with my CW9 that I bought used a day ago.

Rather than having the usual long buttery smooth trigger pull that Kahr is well know for, my CW9 has a "click" right as the slack starts being taken up. I have pretty much tracked down the source of this click to be the trigger bar spring clicking as it slides along the trigger bar. The video below will show

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d3ftNrONk0

It is hard to see in the video but there is a difference in size in the thickness of the trigger bar. Where the Trigger Bar Spring loops under the Trigger bar is where the clicking occurs. It looks like when it transitions from the thinner part of the bar to the ever so slightly thicker part of the bar is where the click occurs. It doesnt look like something that can be fixed with a file as it appears to be the design of how the bar is made...

Ideas short of sending it back to Kahr? I did put a bit of TW25 grease at the contact point but did not seem to help

Is there a way to actually embed the video in the thread rather than just a link?

Remove the trigger bar spring and smooth the bottom edge of the trigger bar with an Arkansas stone. That should correct the problem. If not try opening the bend in the spring just a little for a little more clearance.

Not to sound naive but is it easy to take out and put the spring back in? Do we have a guide here on the site?

I have a similar issue with my cw9. While mine isn't as pronounced as yours, my trigger does feel a bit gritty due to the spring not gliding smoothly over the trigger bar. Update this thread if you find a reasonable solution!

Ok update........I moved the spring a bit forward and then locked it back in place. Put the cover back on. If I just pull the trigger without the striker being set there is no click. If I rack the slide and start to pull the trigger I hear a little click. If I release the trigger before I follow through and then pull trigger all the way to fire there is no click.

Wow I confused myself typing that lol

On occasion I can dry fire with no click.....sounds like it may be working itself in I did try stretching the pin a bit forward so it didn't engage the higher portion of the trigger bar but I don't think I changed it at all

In any event it is acting a bit different then when I posted the vid

I had this exact thing with my p380. I tried to polish the area and now put a little dab of TW25 grease where it slides every cleaning. The more you shoot it the better it will get. Try putting a little grease and see if it helps. Dan

The video is excellent. Can you feel anything with your finger on the trigger bar? The video might indicate that the spring is slightly catching on the bar.

Removing and reinstalling the spring is a piece of cake. All you need to do is unhook the end that goes around the trigger bar.

Thanks Muggsy!

David.... There is a transition on the trigger bar where the thickness changes. I'm pretty sure this is where the click occurs It doesn't seem rough and from my eyeballing it , it looks like that is how it is designed. I think the spring needs to be adjusted a bit so it doesn't catch on the parts where thickness changes

+1 What he says...

Well I think the problem is solved. I sort of accidentally took out the trigger bar spring lol. Like Muggsy said all you need to do is unhook the end that goes around the trigger bar heh

Took a few minutes to figure out how to put it back in. It snapped back into place and now when I dry fire no more click

Sorry it is a little blurry but as you can hear between the video posted above the click that was present when just applying a bit of pressure is gone

The quick and easy fix may be as simple as taking the spring out and putting it back in again

Thanks for the help Muggsy in pointing me in the right direction :)

Well that was short lived. Fire one round at the range and the triggerbar pin slipped up higher than it should have so the trigger went south. I think I might have bent the pin a little. I guess it needs to be where the clicking occurred

Muggsy.....what type of Arkansas stone do I need? Never have used one and don't want to get the wrong one and have it too abrasive
