I am continuing to search for a K40. Today, I was a bit out of my area, in another state, and I stopped in a good size shop with an indoor range. There in the cabinet was a K40. I asked one fo the fellows to look at it. As he handed it to me he read the back of the tag and said "this is a factory blemish and it only comes with one mag". He couldn't tell me the model number but it looked like a K4043. He also couldn't tell me what is a "blemish" and why only one mag. I asked about the marking on the box label and he said they are all stored in the back and they are not permited to bring them out unless the unit is being sold, for fear of losing items out of the boxes. Price on the tag $600.
I tried to contact Kahr by phone while at the shop but could not reach anyone. I do not see any reference to "blemish" models on the web site, but I think they would never show show this anyway.
Can anyone tell me about what a blemish is and why only one mag ?

Can't speak to the single mag. my "blemished" K9 came with two just as a they should. The Blemished guns are marked on the trigger guard with a B. The blemish is a cosmetic flaw. I've never heard of a functional problem with a blemished Kahr. The pistol case will have a special tag signifying it is a "B" model.
Never heard of a gun shop that wouldn't show a gun or any accessories that they come with. The box however will not have any info concerning the blemish itself.

A blemish can be just about anything from a cosmetic view point but does not affect the functionality. No idea why there is only one mag other than the guy telling you we don't bring out the boxes so we don't lose anything?

I've bought blemished products before where I could fine no blemish. Go figure. I thought I got a good deal and I did.

I would buy a kahr blemish any day if I was looking and found one. Not to sure 600 is a grat price, as your warranty o a blemish is I think one year instead of 5, they will never tellyou what a blemish is either. I bought 3 cases of what they call Ride On tire sealant for my bikes and for some of my freinds. They were called dings (plastic bottles) and dents and discounted heavily. When I got htem they were in new cardboard cases never opened and they were absolutey perfect, not a ding, or dent or nuttin. So go figure. Maybe inventory reduction etc. Could be the same with kahrs to at times.
Maybe Mr. Moon walked by the storage area one dayt and seen 100 K40 just sitting there and said get rid of those fokkers and I do't care how. BINGO out comes the "B" stamp and away they go.

Hey, even my perfect wife has a few blemishes. A couple of dents and dings, too come to think of it and I wouldn't trade her for a 1911 unless it was engraved and had ivory grip panels.

Thanks for the info. I did find a few references to blemished and refurbished units on an internet search - the blems get a B and the refirbished get a U. The mag issue for me is not a deal breaker but the price seems to be high compared to a new unblemished, per a couple internet prices I found. I'm going to take another trip to the shop and see if they will "deal".

I "stretched" a little when I bought my Kahrs. No regrets. In fact the only deals I regret are the ones I passed on. Go figure.
Good luck.

b4uqzme - thanks for the link
I'll be over in Ohio in a few days, actually in the Richfield area, I plan to check a couple shops on the way. I have a dealer here lined up for a transfer.

Richfield. That's real close. Enjoy your stay.
Check out Dick's Gun Room in Cuyahoga Falls. Not the cheapest but they have EVERYTHING.
Northfield Gun and Tackle is a great place for older/vintage rifles.
Kames Sporting Goods in N Canton is 1 hour away but have some good prices
If you go that far, go to Fin Feather Fur in N Canton for ammo. Best selection. Best prices. I have even found bricks of 22lr there. And they have a larger store at SR250 and US71 if you come through that way.
Do a google. There's a boatload of stores nearby.
