Read in my manual (yes, I'm that 1 guy who reads them) that Dan Wesson recommends AGAINST Rem Oil (my current stuff), CLP and Hoppe's Elite the rails.
They recommend I use Militec-1, FP-10 or Dan Wesson rail lube .
Anyone ever see this sort of recommendation in a manual? I wisshed they had said why.
Comments?
P.S. My third session of 50 FMJ for break in went perfectly....no out of battery at all and used cheapest Federal 115 gr in a white box marked just Federal Range Ammo - sold at the range.

Hey RainingAgain, my Husband has an ECO and several other Dan Wesson's and we use
EWL on the rails of all our handguns and we use rem oil on springs.
Seems to work well for us.
You are just around the corner from us, we're in Chesterfield TWP.

Howdy Neighbor, I have used Rem Oil on my Glocks, an HK P7, Sigs and Walters. I'm running low so it isn't a big deal to switch. I had a $50 credit at Amazon and bought some splatter targets too.
Two questions
What is EWL..is there a full name and where do you buy it?
Do you shoot a CQT?

Hey RainingAgain, getsome is right it's ( EWL…Extreme Weapons Lube ) also called "slip 2000". We've bought it at various gun shows; Gibraltar Trade Center, and some out West, and perhaps online. I can't be exact because a bottle lasts a long time, even with both of us shooting 2 - 4 guns each range session.
Yes, we occasionally shoot at CQT during the day (it's only $10 then) as well as a variety of other locations. Two winters we were members of Brown Bear (Gratiot just south of
21 mile). We've also met friends at William's (near the thumb), Bald MT. Recreation area
(you'll need a State Park sticker there) and at a gravel pit when we are up North (Alpena)
visiting family.
Presently, we are thinking about joining the Blue Water gun club, but we haven't investigated it thoroughly. We are in limbo at the moment because my Husband's 89 yr
old Mother (she's a great lady and lives in Alpena) broke her femur and we are take turns caring for her. She's a real pleasure and a wonderful example when it comes to dealing with hard times!!

Hey AIRret, sorry to hear about your husbands mom....A broken femur is a bad injury to recover from even for a young person....Older people are so cool to talk to and I'm afraid the younger generation sometimes writes them off as obsolete antiques not to be listened to but that is a mistake...
My wifes aunt came to live with us the last few years of her life and died a few years ago but even at 91 she was sharp as a tack and could remember everything from years ago...Her husband died back in 2005 but he was the same way and loved to tell stories about his time as a Seabee in the Philippines during WWII...Both told stories of how hard it was during the depression and how difficult it was just to survive....Later in life she was a self taught architect and he with the construction skills learned in the Seabees became a general contractor and became a millionaire building and selling property...Nobody ever gave either one of them anything and what they had, they earned from hard work...I glad Uncle Guy didn't live to see Obama as president because his head would have exploded...The man hated Democrats and especially Bill Clinton with a passion....
Until the day they died both were tight as a tick and wouldn't spend money on anyhing and never threw anything of value away due to their memories of the depression and not having enough to eat sometimes....When we cleaned out their house and garage we found every pair of shoes and every winter coat both had ever owned along with many sets of old bald tires which were junk to us but to them were still usable....The people of that generation were smart and tough and knew how to get through hard times that many wouldn't survive if it happened again today...They really were made of something special and I enjoyed every minute I spent talking to them...If you have an elderly person in your life spend some time with them and even if they suffer from dementia they will often remember their earlier years quite well...Their knowledge is a forgotten treasure and we can all learn something from them....

getsome, thanks for the post!
I wish more people respected what our elders have to offer.
You should see my Mother In Law kick butt in therapy! They absolutely love her at the rehab. facility. She's determined to heal and regain as much mobility as possible.
The femur fracture was a very bad one. It is called a T fracture, the bone not only broke completely in half it also split up the middle. On top of that it was compound.
She's one tough Lady and treats me like a daughter. I'm truly blessed
