I have a Dawson fiber optic front sight on a Ruger 22-45. I prefer the green over the red for visibility. The fiber is great in good light and fair in dim light. I've never had one break.

I've had that same sight for about 6 months. Carried it daily and I've never broken a fiber.

I have them on all my carry guns. as far as how bright they are pretty good even at sunset you can still see them fairly well. If you get one order some extra fiber optic it's cheap comes in 6" and 12" lengths. Just make sure you get the right height sight when you order I prefer the red tried the green my eyes just didn't pick it up as well but that's your choice

I have a few FO front sights and they do work great in bright sunlight but are not anything special in low light, in fact mine are less bright than glo type paint.
TruGlo has a nice set of tritium night FO sights that are the best of both worlds. I am not sure of the depth of availability of gun models.

From what i searched kahr cm9 front sight is .180 high and .125 wide thinking of going with the .105 wide fiber optic sight tho
Does anybody know of the dissadvantages or advantages of running a thinner front sight

Thinner front sight is more accurate you can see the air space on both sides when you line it up with the rear sight

Dawson Precision says:
Older eyes focus faster with the added light surrounding the front sight via a wider rear notch or a narrower front sight.

I am 26 and wear contact lenses my eyes are crap already even with contacts so im thinking the .105 wide front sight would be best

so true but u and I both know that in a SHTF situation ur not gonna see any space between anythinbg. One woill be damnlucky if he sees any sight, and most all will tellyou SEE THE FRONT SIGHT clearly and fire away. POA shooting for these kahrs IO is the way to practice, You can get good u can certinly get fast and ur eyes can onlyfocus o one thing, not the front site, rear sitre and the target. Just sayin

I really like a front FO on daytime carry guns. Never broke one. They really help me pick up the front sight quickly. Like Jocko says, you are probably gonna just point and shoot if you are ever in a SHTF situation. So my only concern (and I practice this) is in picking up the front sight fast. I even black out the rear sights and find that MUCH better. Color doesn't seem to be an issue for me. Green and Red work equally well. FWIW both my Kahrs have night sights so I use those....well...at night.

What old jocko said is true in a defense situation what you need to practice is point shooting or instinctive shooting. This is not a target gun by any means although sights will help get the skills you need. Shoot alot and get good at it.Hey I think I just agreed with jocko
I have a Dawson Fiber Optic front sight and their plain black rear sight on my T9. When I shoot plates at the range, I just get the front fiber optic sight on the plate and shoot. It is very fast to acquire and shoot.
I have a K9 with night sights that I carry all year. I recently bought a PM9 to carry in the summer and I am considering putting a Dawson Fiber Optic front sight and plain black rear sight on it. I really like the fiber optic front sight and how quickly I can get on target. I am very satisfied with my Dawson sights.

I have a Dawson front night sight on my cm9 it is pretty nice and makes the focusing on the target very quick and easy.

I was also thinking of putting a plain black rear sight on as well does anybody have specs on the factory rear sight as far as measurements like sight height and width of the notch
