Bought a new Kahr on Thurs. I pick it up next week. It's twilight blue metallic, and has off black grips. I skipped most of the electronic gadgets, didn't need them. It came with a nice case, and mats. Subaru Legacy Limited. Oh, you thought I was talking about something else. Damn that Jocko................................the wife and I have been driving Honda's for a long time, and decided to jump ship. Getting rid of the 02 Accord. Been a really good car for me. Just turned over 100,000mi. The engine is still great, it's everything else. These Wisconsin winters, and roads, beat the @%$* out of a vehicle. Hope I get a good one. My car, I mean Kahr, has been. I hope my other Kahr, I mean car treats me the same.;)

We bought a new (our first) Subaru Outback last summer. Our plan is to drive until either we or it are dead. We both like it very much so far ... though if my wife goes first I may trade it in for a sportier model.

Good luck with the new ride. Couldn't imagine not having AWD or 4WD living there. Good buy, imo. Never owned one myself but family and friends have had good luck with Subaru.

Here in Southeast Michigan it has been the worst winter in 20 years temp wise & almost the highest snow totals in history. AWD or 4wheel drive is probably great so great that some of the people here in bad conditions speed in them and cause accidents with that invinvible feeling. Rubber on snow or ice is the same no matter how many drive wheels one loses control of.

Best of luck with your new Subaru. And yes, you did get me on the new "Kahr". :)

Between me, my wife (she currently has a 2013 Outback Wagon) and son we've had 8 Subaru's. Think it was 1977 when I bough my first. Every one has been great. My son totaled my 2003 Impreza with just 4-5K miles on the car. Couldn't at that time bring myself to get another so got into a 2003 Honda Accord which I'm still driving. Close to 160K relatively trouble free miles on the Accord. One big negative is the Accord absolutely sucks in the snow. The wheel that slips just slips more - no traction control that year on the 4 cylinder Accord. Couple years from now my wife will get a new Subaru and I'll take over the 2013.

Currently, I have the 02, and I have an 08, both purchased new. The 02 rides better, and is better in the snow. Both have the V6. The newer they are, the worse they are in the snow. Got the V6 in the Subaru also. Not quite enough power for me, in those 4 cylinder squirrel cages. First year I was disappointed in the Accord's. They are somewhat draconian when it comes to the design of the dash and console, and the 2.4 cylinder motor. I attended a large new car show about a month ago, and sat in, and checked out about everything new imaginable. Unfortunately, I don't have a money tree nearby, otherwise I would be driving a Volvo XC70.;)

I love AWD vehicles. I've bought only AWD for myself since 1985 when I got my first... the Audi Quattro 4000. It had low clearance but with taller snow tires I got around in Maine and Canada when we went skiing.

When Ford started making AWD Aerostars in 1990, I got one of those and another in '94 after someone ran into us.

Finally, in September of 2004 I got my AWD GMC Savana... just about the largest thing I could fit into my garage. It's going on 10 years old now and I'll drive it as long as I can... especially after just having the tranny and transfer case, yolk, etc. replaced! I love the size... capacity and capability.

In 2001 I wanted to buy a Subaru Impreza for my wife, but she wanted the Volvo S40, which is still running with over 100K miles on it. I hope to get a Forester to replace that. I would like all of the safety features and AWD for her. In 2001 there weren't a lot of choices for cars with ABS and other safety features... airbags all around, etc. The Volvo had the most of everything then, but no AWD.

Congrats on the new Subaru!

Wynn:)

Congrats on the new ride, the only things that come close are new guns and new guitars not necessarily in that order. I bought a new Forester in 2011, by far the most surefooted vehicle I have ever owned.

On second Forester, now with 95K miles, and expect to replace the wife's Mercedes with a Subaru when needed (her idea). If you need more power, get the turbo model. Rated at 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. Haven't done that, but it does get it on when needed. And no tire spin with 4wd.
