Retired Copper in the Cleveland area here. I just bought a PM9 for pocket carry. I will be making my first trip to the range shortly. I followed the manual recommendations and cleaned it with solvent and lubed it. I am going to avoid FMJs and just go with some of the premium self-defense loads I have remnants of here and see how it goes.

That a rather expensive way to break in a new gun, but other than that I see nothing wrong with it. I'm a Cleveland westsider myself. What district did you serve?
