if u want to take it down for cleaning just shoot it grab take down lever while its down and barrel and slide should just fly off front.

The frame flex just aft of the takedown lever slot is really troubling! That looks like an area for failure.

Thanks Muggs, you got my blood stirring this morning:D- I usually prefer to shoot mine with my hand instead of locking the grip in a ransom rest. The frame will still flex (seen several slow -mo vids ) but not nearly as violent. The takedown button moving was interesting. I've never seen that happen in other slow-mo videos. Keep on posting those Glock videos- I love gun porn! Here's a good read (try this with some other brands)

The take down lever dropping is normal,although I don't understand why.
The take down lever has a ridge / lip on the upper back side that engages a groove on the front of the bottom barrel lug.
When fired, the barrel travels back a bit with the slide, so the take
down lever isn't engaging the barrel lug anymore. That's normal operation.
What I don't understand is why the take down lever is dropping, because it's under upward pressure from a flat spring under the lever.

I have an instructional video showing the lever not dropping down in a Glock cut away pistol, when manually cycled. And my G17 lever doesn't drop either.

To be honest with you guys I don't think that the flexing is a problem. If it were I sure that it would have resulted in failure many times over with the number of Glocks that have been produced. I just thought that the video was neat. Shoot 'em like you stole 'em.

You all do realize Glocks have one of the best reputations for longevity and reliability in the history of firearms, right? What you see in that video probably happens to lots of guns.

I can see why the slide lock spring can fail if it's being bashed by the rear of the recoil assembly. I was reading the other day where that's a show stopper... a broken slide lock spring. I can't remember if I have a spare of that. I bought a bunch of parts for my 3.5 Glocks.

The G21 SF has a problem... the recoil assembly won't stay in position and drops down a bit. The gun works, but I have to pull up a bit on the rear of the recoil assembly to get the slide off for disassembly. I don't know if I should contact Glock or just try to define that shelf on the barrel lug a bit with a stone. I bought a stainless recoil rod assembly and it won't stay in position, either.

I would think any composite pistol will flex when fired, including Kahrs.

Polymer pistols are just like ol muggsy. We may bend a bit but we don't break.

If this was an issue, Glocks wouldn't have the reputation for being as dependable as they are. I'm sure most guns "flex" in one way or another. I've seen it in rifle barrels also.
