Today while putting a couple of hundred rounds through the two PM45s I had a mag with a stuck follower. On inspection the metal insert for the hold open had come loose and was rubbing on the mag tube. This is one of ten mags so I would deal with it later at home. The metal insert is a pressed pin and it started to back out so I used pliers to squeeze it back in place. I checked the other mags and they all had pins that were backing out. I checked the 380 and 9mm mags and they had the same problem. Some of the 45 mags are fairly new mabe a few hundred rounds through them. The rest have thousands through them.

I recently cleaned these mags with an ultra sonic cleaner. I'm thinking the vibration may have helped back the pins out. I'm going to test this with one mag.

Food for thought.

That sounds quite plausible.
Do you suppose the cleaner/solvent you used could have dissolved the adhesive holding the pin in place?

If you used heat the metal may have expanded and then contracted again when it cooled. It probably wouldn't hurt to super glue those pins if they start backing out again.
