OK, we've already decided my thumb and fingers are wimps since I was asking about loaders. Plus, the serrations on the slide of my cw9 are sharp as cat's claws. I've seen some of the photos here with tape strips, etc placed in those grooves to cushion things a little. With that in mind, is there any kind of DIY sanding, smoothing, etc. that will round them off a little and not mess up the stainless finish? I'm interested in what others have done to protect their sissy pinkies.:o

As far as racking the weapon hold the slide and push the receiver forward. It seems to make it work easy.

Don't sand your beautiful gun.

Use an uplula to load the magazines. Buck up on the slide. ;)

Might try a pair of thin gloves.

Don't use the "pinch" method... thumb and forefinger... use the weak hand over the slide method... palm against the slide and thumb along the slide pointing to the rear and the fingers over the slide... staying clear of the ejection port. Grasp the slide that way and push with the strong hand the pistol away from you as you rack the slide to rear and release the slide as it reaches the end of it travel... cleanly... no drag... meanwhile maintaining a firm grip on the pistol with the gun hand. These compact Kahrs need all of the momentum from the slide to chamber a round successfully. A weak grip allows some of the energy to move the pistol and not enough energy is available to chamber a round. For firing or chambering a round, you need a firm grip on the pistol.

I used a 1.75"bike tube to put a grip cover on ALL of my polymer Kahrs... .380 through .45, and it's a great feeling grip, covering the nibs on the larger calibers, but giving a great tactile grip. It's inexpensive, too... CHEAP and effective!

I've been working on this method. Seems to work well.

I hate to admit this, but once when I injured a paw I use the following ploy. At the range I loaded a mag and then bet the guy in the next lane that he couldn't rack the slide on my CM9. Being Macho the guy had to show me that he could. Once the first round was loaded into the chamber I was home free. I just used the slide release to chamber a round now and never close the slide on an empty chamber. Sometimes you have to be smarter than the gun. :)

Put it this way: If they were all on fire, and my bladder was really full, I'd still look for someplace else to relieve myself.

You can lay a ROUND stone (3/8-1/2" works great) over a serration and it'll only touch the sharp corners, and with a couple of strokes knock off the sharp edges:yo:.
Doing it this way there's way less chance for an OOPs.
You'll have to aquire/buy/ borrow a stone though.
A smith could do this in minutes but you'll need to pay him/her for knowing how...not their time:)
They'll probably tell you to come back later and will have it done before you get out of the parking lot:D

:) Thankyou!

Also it's comforting to know someone with your standards is in charge of maintaining political correctness here.

Wyntrout's method is what I learned in USMC boot camp and have used it ever since. It's easy and always works...;)

Yep, thanks for the rack method. It works much better than just a thumb and forefinger. Meanwhile, an update on my using adhesive backed velcro loop strips between the serrations instead of 3M tape or skateboard tape: The velcro works as expected in protecting the fingers from the sharp slide serrations, but::(
I just purchased a new Remora holster. When I try to draw the entire holster comes out with the pistol. Apparently, the velcro loops stick to the Remora holster material causing the problem. So the velcro has to go and I'll keep the Remora. I don't know if the users of 3M or skateboard tape will have the same problem or not, but it would be a good idea to check it out.

The 3M vinyl will not stick to your holster.

The stuff with the grit will also pull on your holster.

Good luck:amflag:
