After 2500 rounds, my PM9 started experiencing a failure to return to full battery about once every other magazine. Failure occurred with each of my five magazines. Figured it was time to think about a spring change. Just so happened I'd ordered a new recoil spring assembly and striker spring last year in anticipation of just such an occasion. In less than ten minutes it was "out with the old and in with the new". Had me a little worried with the extreme stiffness of the new recoil assembly. Two hundred round range visit today alleviated any and all concerns with a flawless performance.

I absolutely love this pistol.

And I absolutely love you for telling us about it. Not in any mano mano way ya understand. It's nice when a plan or a cure works first time out, really nice.

Recoil spring assemblies are a maintenance item like the battery in your car. It WILL need to be replaced, and you should expect it will eventually go bad...the only question is when you need to replace it.

You did the smart thing to have a spare handy and ready to go. And to recognize the symptom of a weakened spring and take the correct action to deal with it. You get an "A+" in Kahr Owner class.

While I am certainly pleased to hear how well things went for you, I'm actually looking forward to a different kind of Spring change.

Had a nice Spring day here in NC. Hit the mid 70's. I had a bit of an accident today though.. got ambitious and planted some grass.. while using the cultivator somehow dug up the cable and am now without tv, phone or internet :(. To keep this gun related I had over 3500 rounds through my pm9 before I changed my recoil spring. It still worked fine but didn't want the first time it didn't to be the time I really needed it.

Did you take the round nut off and replace the inner captive recoil spring?

I replaced the entire assembly with an OEM replacement part.
