Went to the range and shot a friends PM40 he wants to get rid of for financial reasons. Small, completely concealable and reliable until I tried a
fusillade. Third round did not fully chamber, about halfway. It was not a
fail to return to battery as pushing the back of the slide would not seat round. As long as you took your time and fired when you got back on target everything worked fine.
However, I do know that a real double tap would be out of the question, as recoil with premium ammo, was brutal. It would take 2 seconds between shots to get back on target. And I am not small, weak or old.
I would like to get it, but I think I may have to wait for that perfect 9mm.
And I don't know where to start looking. I would like something with a shorter
trigger pull and a detectable trigger reset in a single stack.

Try a CM9 (not a 40) unless you can not get used to the long smooth trigger pull, an acquired taste. I do prefer the longer smooth trigger pull striker-fire for a small self defense gun, which is what the Kahr is designed for. The Kahrs also are designed to have less muzzle flip. I have a S&W Shield .40 and do OK with it. I am not big, young, or especially strong and have small hands.

Yea I'm not a fan of 40 in little guns. Just to much recoil plus you loose a round or two.
