CM9 Trigger Issues

Last fall I took the CM9 out and fired it's first 150 flawless rounds. I went home broke it down. Cleaned lubed etc and put it back together. Loaded up a mag locked the slide inserted the mag and hit the release. Been pocket carrying ever since. Went to the range today to run another 100 thru it and I pulled it out of my pocket and pulled the trigger and the trigger pulled thru but no action. Just a trigger that pulls to the back and then resets.





I haven't even taken in out of the shooting bag since I returned. Both pissed and glad I found this before I really needed it. Any ideas what could be the issue?

Been carrying in pocket... maybe you got more crud in there where it doesn't belong.

This points out two things; you should run a few rounds through your daily carry gun regularly and also, whether you shoot it or not it should be cleaned on a regular basis.

Did you test for function after you cleaned and reassembled the gun? You should have. In most cases you can trace a problem back to the last thing that was done to the gun. Could you have reassembled it incorrectly? Here is a video to show you how the trigger works.

I always dry fire it a few times after cleaning and reassembly.

Is the gun not in full battery? The trigger can act as you describe.

Did you test for function after you cleaned and reassembled the gun? You should have. In most cases you can trace a problem back to the last thing that was done to the gun. Could you have reassembled it in correctly? Here is a video to show you how the trigger works.

I believe that I dry fired it because that is my stand operating procedure but it has been a long cold winter. I appreciate the video. Will try to watch it this weekend and see if I can remedy the situation.

Full Mag slide release to set first round and nothing. No trigger action.

If you reassembled the gun correctly, either the trigger is not resetting, or the trigger bar is no longer attached to the cocking cam or trigger. You can remove the slide and check the action of the trigger bar and cocking cam. If all seems ok, reassemble the gun. Pull the trigger back and hold it. Rack the slide with the trigger held back. Slowly release the trigger and you should feel and hear an audible click near the end of the trigger travel when the trigger resets. If you don't then the trigger is not resetting.

about taking the side back off and spray cleaning that cocking cam area real good, flip that little cocking cam with ur finner and see if it flips back OK. It should.

Now pull the trigger with the sldie off and see what happens i that area. The cocking cam shouyld move backwards.

What did u take apart when u cleaned it. ??? If u took the slide apart, then recheck to see if the striker block is woring OK. With the slide off, u should be able to pull back the striker a tad kand the striker block should pop up and lock it back and then u should be able to push in the striker block and it releases the striker. If it does all of this,then IMO u did nuttin wrong and sumpin just happened and my guess it could be i the trigger bar area. U can now remove that little side cover on the righgt side withg a #6 torx tool and check to see if that little curly cue type spring is still under the trigger bar and in the little groove on the spring. removing tht side plate will not let any parts fly out either. if these all test out OK kthen u should email kahr, attn Jay ad state what the gun is doing for IMO it might need to go back to kahr.:Amflag2: The gun MUST be in full battery. if that slide is even a cuntis hair out of battery it will produce a dead trigger,so hit the back of the slide when u retest the gun to make sure it is closed.

This is a strange problem. Worked, taken apart, put back together. Now doesn't work.

Well I broke it down cleaned and lubed. Put it back together and same issue. Then took the slide off and reinstalled a couple of more times and on the 3rd or 4th try the trigger was functioning. Going to go shoot the gun tomorrow and repeat the process and see if the issue repeats. I'm guessing it was user error the last time but we will see.


Thanks for all the assistance and tips. I really like this gun and it along with my CW45 are my two EDC's. I really want to believe that they are both reliable.
