What size and shape of cleaning patches do you folks use to clean your 9mm Para handguns? Sounds dumb, huh? Thanks...

1 1/2" x 1 1/2"...................
IIRC, I've been using 2"x2" patches in our 9mm's and .380's. I just grab a patch these days and clean; I simply know which bag of patches to grab for which caliber gun and to be honest, can't recall exactly. Stupid, I know, but it's like when I drive somewhere, if they tear down that gas station on the corner where I turn, I'm screwed...
I just saw barettabones post. I DO have plenty of 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" too.
Mine are square but I'd use round if I could readily find them.

I just buy all 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 or 3 x 3. Then I just cut the patch with scissors to whatever size I need. For wiping down the outside and everything else but the barrel, I like the larger size.

I just cut sections out of old t-shirts. If they are too tight, I cut some off or offset it.

On my side of the tracks we wear old T shirts.:D
Just as an FYI, there's an outfit in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee called Southern Bloomers. Maybe everyone already knows about them.
They make women's skivvy shorts for prisons, hum correctional facilities to be more PC. With the remnants they make cleaning patches.
I got a bunch for use at the department. They are real heavy duty and work well. Not expensive as I recall but it's been awhile.
I still remember I could still hear some and I originally called them. Knowing where they were I jokingly asked if Dolly was available, the very nice lady said no Dolly was off today, could she have her call me back. I told her you gotta be kidding me!
Anyhow they make a nice patch.

May sound silly but I buy old sheets (Salvation Army) of the "right" material and cut them to the size we need.
I'm offended by the price of most patches these days, and we average 6 guns a week that need cleaning.
My and Hubby's folks lived through the depression and we were taught to watch our $ but
also that with a little thought you don't have to do without.
I'd rather spend money on reloading components!

2-1/4" square will cover everything from a .38 cal to 20ga. One inch square is good for .17-.25 cal. Three in. square for 16 -10ga. For those of you who care enough to use the very best it's cotton flannel only. I heard that Jocko cleans his PMJ9 with old pantyhose.

I heard he switched to pantyhose because he no longer had luck finding pure virgin wool. I got no proof to back this up though, better check snopes or one of them other lie detectors.

I had no idea size mattered.

It depends a lot on the type of jag on the end of your cleaning rod. Some accept a lot of extra cloth or patch, while others just have a small necked down space where extra material doesn't fit. I cut off the extra and try again. I use the 2"x2" patches and cut to size for .22 through .45.

I use a 45mm (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYvsrstqDMo) on 50 cent thrift store t-shirts :)
Probably around 2x2...

I don't use a jag !! Nylon brush with a 1/2" by 1 1/2" strip of cotton wrapped around it like a barber pole . Cotton comes from old t-shirts and other warn out cotton clothing
