I thought I would put out a very short video of shooting my PM40 this evening.
https://vimeo.com/90496957

I screen captured one frame and made an avatar from it.

Interesting grip you have. It sure looks like that PM40 is a bit of a beast. I'm not sure my beat up old hands could handle it. Enjoyed the video and the captured frame. :)

The grip kind of surprised me when I looked at it in the video. It must be instinctual or something. I don't recall doing anything but drawing and shooting. My hands are decidedly average in size and not too strong after a lifetime of pushing papers. The gun feels pretty smooth shooting. These rounds were 155 grain I believe.

Having a bigger pistol grip would surly simplify the ergometrics but then it wouldn't be as compact and I probably wouldn't carry it as much.

That's a cup and saucer grip indicating a shooter with a few years on him. Or a young shooter taught to shoot by by an old shooter. Don't ask me how I know. :)

To me the grip started out well or close to well, of course that's subjective and if it works use it but then the grip changed each shot until it ended up with the classic cup and saucer grip.

I had to watch a couple times to figure out what I was seeing.

But again, I'm a firm believer in if it works for you that's the way to do it.

Yeah Thanks for the advice on grip. My rt hand shifted back with every shot. I'll work in keeping it the same each time. I've learned something by posting a vid of my shooting.

Let's just say that I'm a bit more refined than you, Jocko. In comparison, I'm like fine gun oil and you're more like crude. Just sayin. :)

That is the first grip I can remember being taught. I'll turn 70 this August if that helps you understand. http://kahrtalk.com/images/editor/smilie.gif

When the stars line up I can hit my 6"x12" gong at 50 yards or so about half the time with my Kahr and about 80-90% of the time with my 1911 or Buckmark. I know that is not what these guns were designed for but it is fun.

The grip worked. It used to be taught in Law Enforcement to shoot that way. I shot that way until I started working here and shot FAST simulator quals.
The instructors who became very good friends showed me the newer way and after breaking the old way its stuck with me.

It works and it does make a difference.

My kids hate me at the range because even though I'm not the brightest light in the harbor I like to help people that are doing something wrong and showing it on the target, especially hot chicks.

I was next to a older fella my age, and he was vertical stringing, using the cup and saucer grip. I asked if he was open for suggestion and showed him the new way and it put the cure to the vertical stringing. Made me feel kind of warm inside ya know.

I don't think that I was ever taught how to shoot a hand gun. This afternoon I tried to hold the weapon purposely with my non dominant (right) hand and was treated with a lot of slap from the slide on recoil. No wonder I switch to the cradle grip with this gun.

I'm 62, an ASA vet.

At the time,we were more interested in capturing electrons than shooting guns.

In my very first lesson my dad told me that God gave me two hands and two eyes and that I should use both. That came after the the instruction on the four basic rules of gun safety. It's stuck with me for a long time.

Was looking at the video. As the first shot is fired it looks like the bullet is visible near the left of the frame.

You can shoot them and cauterize them at the sale time :)

Shooting at dusk. I 'd didn't even realize that it was dusk season. I'd better get my dusk hunting license. How do you cook a dusk? Do they taste like chicken?

The range is out my back door. Can shoot any time I choose. No license required. Quite unlike Ohio.

Our last home had a range that faced south. Was it a b!tch to shoot in mid winter. This one faces north. Is great all year long.

I'll keep that northern exposure in mind. I'm looking for a new humble abode. A ranch on about ten acres will do nicely.
