IMO, it would be so nice if states would compare notes.

That's why when we travel we closely study www.handgunlaw.us!!

It would be great if all the gun laws across the US were the same. However, I'm afraid that if that were the case we would end up with the laws from the most restrictive gun grabber State!!

I like the confusion. It keeps me on my toes. The alternative is universal federal gun laws. I think I'll pass on the alternative. I'm into diversity.

I'm a poster child for ignorance of the law is no excuse. My toys go with me, so rather than read what I can't do and then do it anyway, I just skip one step.

As Sovereign Entities each state is able to do as it pleases. I for one DO NOT want national standards for CCW as my excellent state laws may be butchered by some ignorant/liberal states laws.

What I suggest is, states comparing notes of what works for them;
eg:

IL. thinks, well OR. allows c.c. in bars and aren't having any issues so maybe we should try it.
IN. thinks well OR. allows c.c. with a CHL in schools and isn't having any issues so maybe we should try it.
Or. thinks well UT. AZ. allow out of staters to carry concealed in there states, with no problems o maybe we should try it.
etc.
This should go on between states. Just like the honoring out of state c.c. or reciprocity. The fed are out of it.
Just wishful thinking !

That's a great theory, the problem is government at any level and thinking do not belong in the same sentence.

The way things are they would probably go with NY or MA laws, and "think" they would work everywhere.

Hang on a second.

Just got this which fits perfectly as a demonstration.

Hey, I've got a short Bob hope video called "The greatest line ever said" but my photo bucket won't upload it. Is there anyone here that I could email it to, to see if they can post it

I'm a poster child for ignorance of the law is no excuse. My toys go with me, so rather than read what I can't do and then do it anyway, I just skip one step.

I read it just so's I know when to exercise a bit more caution and when to appear contritely ignorant if I do get in trouble. But side arms do go with me everywhere in any event when I travel by ground.

Handgunlaw has also helped me stay as conveniently legal as possible. Though CO and PA, a common destination, have reciprocity I have a PA non-resident permit because it keeps me legal in Virginia, another place I end up sorta often. It also was the prompt that led me to get a spermit in Maine....not hard and worth it since we're up there for a week or more a couple time a year.
