First outing with the brand new cm40. Was skeptical about reliability after reading some of the posts about breakin period. Followed some of the members instructions on how to avoid the cost of 200 rds of breakin ammo. So I sat the last few nights watching TV racking the slide back and forth... maybe 4-500 times over a couple nights. Doesnt really take that long. Well it must work. Lubed it up as per Kahr and it shot 200 rds of mixed 40 right outa the box....not one issue !!!! Impressed !! As a long time Glock shooter, in fact only Glocks, duty off duty and for fun, I am used to reliability. In my search for a small pocket 9-40 I have tried Taurus...Ruger....DB9.... all had issues I couldnt over come. They went back.... still had issues. Dumped them all. Kahr must have got it right. Ill keep my fingers crossed !!! :)

Glad you got a good one. I too am used to Glocks and their reliability (I currently have 14 of them) but have been looking for a pocket carry back up to my usual carry a Glock 36. I have recently bought a Beretta Nano and a CM40. The Beretta was first and is now back at Beretta with several issues. The CM 40 was next and has been very unreliable. You have probably read my thread. I really want to like this gun too. It fits so nice in the pocket. Anyways enjoy your 40 and keep a eye on the mag follower and nut that holds the recoil spring assembly together.

I really feel most of the function issues with kahrs are owner problems and not handgun problems. Controlling these small heavy recoiling pistols can be a problem . Ammo used can play a certain percentage of problems as the smaller the pistols are the more ammo sensitive they become. Ask 3" 1911 owners about that.

With the 3 kahrs I have I never racked them any more than needed to get a round in the chamber and all run great.

Kahrs do have some issues with feed ramp hitting the follower but that can be checked before shooting and that's an easy fix and lately some trigger reset issues. Other wise they darn good pistols. Feed it a good mid weight ammo and hold on tight. If you have problems as the round count goes up it may be a control issue. Put the pistol down for a while or go home and try another day.

Even glock has problems with there gen4's when brand new to the market and some problems show in the new g42 and looks like the g41 has some growing pains. But they will correct it.

Welcome to the forum gregte. Thanks for the good report!

I've had two other Kahr pistols for a few years and just bought a CM .40 about 2 months ago and love it. She's my every day carry now.

I've put 300 rounds through it and it shoots great. Plan on putting a few hundred more next weekend when the weather gets better.

Like hardluk1 mentioned in this thread about the shooter being the issue and not the gun itself. I can attest to that, if I limp wrist with these small compact pistols then I have issues. If I don't, I never have a single issue. I learned grips are important for me if I'm going to be shooting several hundred rounds in one session.

Nice to hear, the CM40 is a fantastic little pocket sized .40.

Definitely not all shooter issues. Glad to see some folks are getting good reliable guns though.

and IMO shooter errors occur moe with the 40 cal kahrs due to the power of the round and not alot to hold on to either. A gun and a shooter have to mate up to be a good winning combination. But as most here know it is ALWAYS THE GUNS FAULT:7:

Second outing with the CM 40. Another 100 rds of mixed weight and Ogive HP rds. 100% function. Outstanding piece. A little left but not an issue. Real snappy !!!! Only problems are some small gouges on the lower edge of the slide between the stop notch and the takedown notch . Love to post a pic but the site says I'm not allowed to post images. Sent an email to admin but no response yet, any help there???

It takes 30 posts before you can attach images directly. But you can link pictures right now. Otherwise, get talkin'! Welcome and glad you are enjoying your pistol. I have a certain respect for CM40 owners. There's not much to hold on to for such a lively round.

I agree that small, powerful handguns are prone to operator induced problems. But I also think that Kahrs have their own issues due to really tight tolerances and very small margins for manufacturing errors. Sometimes it takes a little extra effort on the owner's part to get them running perfect. But they will run perfect and they are worth it.
