Seriously, I really only bought this because GB and the Colonel keep going on about wide spur hammers! It is pretty cool though. :)

It's a West Hurley/Numrich era. They were never known for being quality pieces. The slide fit is a little sloppy but the bushing is tight and the trigger is a pleasant surprise: light and clean. The barrel seems to lock up tight but I'm not sure I know how to check that correctly. The gun looks to be 100% original. It has a couple of marks on the slide but those will have to stay because I am not planning to refinish it or anything. Just shoot it like I stole it. Took it apart, cleaned it and lubed it, and ran about 30 test rounds through it with no issues. It's accurate enough for me. I hit 8inch plate more than I missed at 25 yards.

If anyone knows a good serial number lookup, please let me know. Thanks!

As always. Please pardon the lousy photography.:o

Sure you bought it because of the Colonel!!!

Admit it, your sick, you have GAS (gun acquisition syndrome).

Congratulations, it looks great.

Looks good to me but I have to put the whole blame on GB. Your not the first one he's influenced in some of this stuff.

It's gotten to whenever I talk about something new my wife wants to know if I been talking that dessert guy again.

He actually suggested trying the hammer out of a A/O for my Remington. I haven't looked into it yet but I think I will when the piggy bank fattens a bit.

I do love me a wide spur hammer, and a wide spur hammer with stag, wow, and a wide spur hammer, stage grips next to a damascus blade, well, shut the front door my britches are sticking out in front.

The grips and the pin within look really good on that thing. Plastic or dark wood?

Plastic. The guy I bought it from said it was Bakelite which would be consistent with the age of the weapon. I just finished cleaning it up real good and it's looking much better. I'm kinda glad I ran across it. And, YES, I do have G.A.S. But you can't blame a guy for finding some way to rationalize a spur of the moment purchase.

Thanks!

P.S. I polished the barrel just to piss Muggsy off. :p

b4uqzme,
Congrats on the AO! In addition to being off to a good start shooting wise, that pistol has an excellent look to it.

Dessert guy? Darn, I knew I was putting some weight on, but didn't think it was that bad:D

I guess since I'm already a bad influence it won't hurt to post a few new photos. Bawanna, after discussing the AO wide spur hammers, I decided to order one of their "GI" style thumb safeties to replace the "tear drop" style that was on it. I think the "GI" style is more fitting of the wide spur hammer.

Quality seems pretty good (I'm guessing it's a cast part). However, I did knock the edges down a bit and parkerized to more closely match my pistol

I was desperately hoping that you wouldn't catch my spelling goof there. I had an inkling of a feeling I goofed but I was'nt sure. I used to spell really good but I seem to be losing it, hanging around with Jocko too much I think.

I'm the one who needs to start skipping desert. I'm ready to turn myself over to Ann Jillian and let her abuse me till I'm lean and mean and still not a Marine even though I want to be.

I got me a great idear. When I get guns that I want to doll up and make right I'm just gonna send em down to you, just do whatever you want so to speak, when you figure it's perfect just send em back.

I once again totally agree the GI thumb safety is much more compatible with the wide spur hammer.

I'm not mentioning this to the wife. She's leaving for the old country Sweden, Wednesday I think for a couple weeks. That should help with the dessert intake and at least till the boys get home each day I can pretend I'm single and do whatever I want. I know it's gonna suck.

Plus yet another couple trips to the airport. My favorite.

Thanks Greg, I should have some fun with it. Now I just need some of that Arizona sunshine so my pictures won't be so lousy. Lord knows I'll never buy a better camera because it eats into gun-buyin' money. :o Please keep your pictures coming. They really are beautiful and inspire some great ideas. You do good work!

Colonel, you enjoy your bachelor couple of weeks now you here? Don't do anything I wouldn't do. Mrs b4 is coming home tonight. I'll admit I miss her dearly...but she'll cure me of that in quick time.

Hey Colonel, that AO wide hammer is only $15. http://www.auto-ordnance.com/Firearms/Auto-Ordnance-1911PKZSE.asp Click on Frame Assembly. Scroll down. Second row from the bottom. That GI thumb safety is in there too.

Yup I done looked and figure to order me up one and a spare sear as recommended by that smart fella above soon as funds allow.

Might have to get the "GI" thumb safety too, dang I gotta quit hanging out with that guy.

Piggy banks been on ultra slim fast of late, I have to save up to buy gas to get to the sweat shop.

I've always maintained a man of my seasoning should always have a 100 bucks in his pocket at all times whenever he needs it. Actually should have 500 but I'm not being greedy.

Don't make no sense.

$500 in my pocket would burn a hole all the way to China. I'm better off with a Lincoln or two. As long as I can buy a coffee in the morning, I'm happy.

Well, since you'll be home alone for awhile (sorry about the quality, I was running out of that good Arizona sunlight):

Dang it now she probably thinks I'm looking at girly pictures.

Those are some wicked cool looking knives. Love em all.

And the guns too.
