Pm 9. More rounds for myself and lighter when fully loaded

PM45. BTW, you only get 8 rounds in the 9mm with the extended magazine. Some have found the 7 round mag problematic, and I, for one, never use extended mags in any pistol.

If you're not going to pocket carry, get the PM45.

IWB you can carry the 45 as easy as the 9mm.

I vote for the 9mm. A little lighter, extra round, and ammo is cheaper and more readily accessible. Plus you can carry in your back pocket with a Guru Daves pocket holster. I imagine the 45 is a tad bigger.

Marbles or bricks? Regardless of size.

my PM9 has been flawless, my PM45 finally stumbled it way to reliability after almost 600 rounds and some kitchen table gun smithing.

my next Kahr will be another 9mm.

I bought a PM9 and a P45. I see the 45 as a IWB gun so I got the mid-sized model. The PM9 has been fine. The P45 has been at Kahr 4&1/2 weeks and counting.

PM9 7 rounds for pocket carry. For IWB I would consider, though I don't have one, the PM45 a good choice.

With today's choice of SD ammo I have no qualms or concerns carrying 9mm vs. .40 or .45, etc. On occasion I carry a .380 and even less frequently a .45.

Tough question. I carry my CM9 a little more often than my PM45. I am happy with both and love them both. Please don't make me choose.

PM9 6 +1 in a Remora IWB is about perfect for me.

I carry my CM9 much more than my PM45. The CM/PM9 is the lightest in 9mm and the PM45 is the lightest in 45. For me, I like slightly less weight, another round, and 9mm is cheaper to practice. FWIW, I don't pocket carry...ever. Kydex AIWB is for me.

I have both. Better shot with the 45 so I carry it more except when wearing shorts.

I have both as well and for some reason I am always drawn back to the PM45 when clothing permits. The PM9 is a bit smaller and lighter , but the feel of the PM45 wins out for me. I should say with my PM9 if I load a full clip of hallow points or other self defense ammo without the slide being back it will jam against the feed ramp from time to time. Having said that I am still under the suggested break in period, and even more importantly the instruction manual says to load the clip with the slide open anyways. I have never had a problem with the PM45 at all.

Go with the PM40. LOL. Just happens to be my personal preference and cal of choice.
Actually I'd go with the 9 vs the 45, just because it will carry smaller, lighter and probably feel more comfortable to shoot. However, Bawana is right....marbles vs bricks. The ballistics are there to compare.
Surprised you would even ask. You know you are going to get both answers. You need to chose what works for you. Decide how you will carry and if it will really make a difference for that carry....Then decide what cal will do a better job for you, why you want it, how you will use it, how much you will shoot it, cost of ammo, availability of ammo, do you reload that cal, price of one vs the other cal, etc, etc, etc....

You know you are going to get both answers. You need to chose what works for you. .

As always, garyb's advice is sound. But I typically answer: "Get both." They each have their advantages and I suspect that's why you are asking. :D Plus, despite being a little snarky, it's not bad advice if you can swing it. ;)

I actually prefer either 9mm or 40cal in small carry guns and Kahrs are small carry guns (CM/PM/MK). I think those calibers typically carry better and run better in small platforms. And there are plenty of good SD ammo choices in both 9mm and 40cal. JMHO.

I really do like the feel of 45cal but I stick to the range and in full sized guns. And carry them rarely.

If I feel the need to carry a more powerful caliber than 40cal, I typically carry a 357magnum snubbie.

There you go. All my carry advice in one post...even though you didn't ask for it. :) I guess I am feeling chatty this morning.

OK one more thought. Before I would recommend you buy EITHER a PM9 or a PM45 I would recommend you get BOTH a CM9 and a CM45. (assuming $$ is a factor).

Whaddya think?

had they made the cm9 first I would have bought it ober the PMJ9. I lovemy PMJ9 but I could do without that butt ugley 7 rund mag, nite sights was not a deal breaker wit me either and now the c series offers them up. If theyt made a cm9 blunt nose kahr today I would buy it anyhow..

Flying plates are always a better option, but I don't feel underpowered with a 9.
