I picked up my CM9 today. Followed all the advice I could find to clean it and rack the slide to break it in. I have an online order of 9mm ammo arriving next week, but I so want to shoot this gun tomorrow that I bought 100 rounds of the more expensive Hornady. Can't wait 'til morning!

Have fun. Do not be surprised or upset if there is a failure of some kind in the first 2 or 3 magazines. After that I predict all will be well. 100 rounds all at once may be a little much and introduce a fatigue factor. My CM9 is my every day front pocket carry. It initially liked 124 gr over 115 gr bullets, but after the first 100 rounds shoots every thing I tried.

I predict you'll really like it. I've had mine for a year and a half, over 2000 rounds and not one failure of any kind. It is my constant companion. Good luck.

Well, the only issue in the first 100 rounds was that three or four times the slide locked back when there were still rounds in the mag. I simply pulled back on the slide and it released and chambered the next round. not a huge problem, but I would not want that disruption to occur if I were face to face with a bad guy.

One way to resolve that, however painful it may be, is to cut your thumbs off.

Alternatively, you can practice keeping your thumbs away from the slide lock lever when the gun recoils. It takes more time to master than option 1, but it makes it easier to hold your beer.

BTW, welcome aboard. There are many smart folks here, and a few wiseguys, too. :)

RRP, I'll have to pay attention to that. It would be a relief to know the mechanical problem is with me and not the gun. Thanks!

Of course, I'm making an assumption that you shot the gun right-handed, which put your thumbs in the way of the slide lock lever.

If you actually shot the gun in your left hand, you can tell me to go defecate in my fedora.

Just spend some time with it. You two will get used to each other and be fine. Welcome and enjoy your new pistol -- IMHO one of the most perfect carry pistols available.

I did shoot with my right hand. However, if you would like to defecate in your fedora and post pics, I'm sure the entire KahrTalk community would benefit from your contribution.

I never have a problem with this however I don't use the thumbs up method. Keep the thumbs down and the problem should cease to be.
