Hi all,
Anyone want to join me in a little "show and tell" about their car, truck, bike, etc?
Here's my 1984 Jeep CJ7; it's a fairly capable vehicle and a lot of fun out here in the desert.
http://i46.tinypic.com/23ht46q.jpg
Then there's the "Not-quite-right" YJ (1989 Jeep wrangler). It was wrecked at some point before it came to me and is a little off kilter (not to mention under powered with a TBI 4 banger), but it's got heart. The ride might be an adventure, but it's always gotten us home.
http://i49.tinypic.com/tapopj.jpg
Speaking of adventure: you never know what might turn up in the boonies around here, so the CW45 always rides along (often accompanied by a self loading rifle).

Greg

Mostly I drive my old 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I put a nice thumping stereo in it, the thing runs like a top with almost 200k miles on it.
http://www.bigcube.org/bbd/Jeep.jpg
Sometimes I spoil myself and drive the truck. It's an 08 Ram 2500 with a Cummins 6.7/6sp std. I mainly use the truck for towing or hauling, had it for 2 years and it's only got 4k miles on it.

A lot more fun than the Mrs. mini-van. :D I am not rich enough for a third car but if I ever am will probably do a fun 4x4. I really like the FJ Cruiser Trail Teams edition. Gotta save some pennies though...

Here's ole blue. I give her to a new derelict in town that was in a car accident and ended up worse off than me. She was my ole carpenter rig and used to be right pretty. Setting out in the yard for a year umoved didn't help her beauty much but she still runs like a good chevy should. Can't find a picture of her replacment, I'll keep looking.

I just have a little 05 Colorado, no power anything, four doors and no back seat, with a 5 spd transmission. It does all I ask, and comes back for more. Not a bad little truck with a 4 cyl. At least it doesn't cost me a large fortune at the gas pump.

Here's ole blue's replacement, they threw in a sack to wear over my head so people wouldn't see me driving an F word rig.
I thought I'd name it Whitey Tighty but it's gone 5 or 6 years without a name so maybe nameless is ok?

Some nice rides folks! Thanks for posting them:)

dademoss,
I see they have your Brabus coupe rated with a top end of 90mph. Have you ever had it up near that? If so, how did it handle? That wheelbase looks pretty tight for that kind of speed:eek: Pretty neat looking car.

Bigcube,
Wow, you have got to love all that Mopar muscle. The Dart Swinger is quite a machine:cheer2:

Drool, seems to me that a Corvette is the perfect accessory for a Kahr pistol, especially one that nice.

John,
Another MoPar; very nice, the Border Patrol runs them out here (and in Cali as well: US Border Patrol #E83704 - Dodge Charger on Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mr38/3078958040/) )

jlottmc,

Devil Dog, no power anything is a test of manhood:D
I have a little 89 Dakota with manual steering that can give quite a workout in tight spaces.

Thanks for the compliments... had that money pit for over 20 years. Sadly I think it's time to find a new owner, my priorities have changed a bit in the last couple of years. I haven't done much with the Dart since 07. I post on a few mopar boards and a few other racing boards. Haven't made it to forabodiesonly in a long time.

My ride is a 2005 GMC Savana AWD Van. After driving AWD Aerostars since 1990 when they came out, I've always wanted a full-sized van with AWD. I got it with everything they had for accessories that I wanted. I have the left-hand doors that are no longer offered. I was always worried about having too few choices for bailing out of the van in an emergency.
It has OnStar, too. With only the second rear seat in, there is over 7 feet to the rear doors. It's my/our RV when I put in all of the necessities.
It has a 5.3L (325 cubic inches) Vortec engine that gets around 12mpg around town and 15-16 on the road at 80 or so MPH. I have the best Radar Detector for when I'm in a hurry -- the Valentine One, which tells you the direction and how many bogeys, not just "Beep".
It's a great vehicle for travel and has a 31+ gallon tank. I drive it like a sports car around town. I have almost 30,000 miles on it and it will be six in August. I got it in September -- fast order... shocked the salesman.
I like having "space"... my own... wherever I go. If you're not driving, you can move around and do stuff.:D
I hate flying anywhere and would rather drive, but my wife works and we don't have the time to drive to Colorado to see her folks. I would love to carry all of my Kahrs out there and show her relatives how they shoot. That's the only trouble... I can carry anything with all of that space... and I try to.

I gave up racing a long time ago. Had a 72 Vega that well lets say was no where near stock. We were the machine shop during the day and at night well that little hotrod was our toy. 350, w/ 4 bolt main, pushing roughly 1200 horses at the wheels. We got rid of it shortly before we moved the shop, and pretty much got out then. I ran a Harley drag bike for a little while, I pretty much got away from that when I built my bike. I had the drive belt from the primary come off and spank my ass, almost broke my hip from that, hurt like a royal Mutha'. Good times... :biggrin1:

That's my next rig your driven Wynn. I'm a devout GM man, just always got along better with them. I was thrilled when they came out with the AWD, us derelicts don't get around too good in the snow and ice. A few more years and the used ones will be in my price range and I'll sign up for one. It's kind of tough getting a new rig, gotta get blessed by the state, they pay for the needed equipment, but I gotta pay for the van. The one I'm in now, the equipment was around 20,000 on top of the van itself. Gotta do the bid thing, go with the lowest bidder, not a lot of them out there to choose from either. Gotta make em last. Ole blue which I donated to the fella without insurance was about 18,000 for the stuff. So it was like a 2,000 dollar van with 18,000 worth of stuff in it. I felt like a free loader for awhile but then was informed that paying into Labor and Industry insurance was not an option, it was mandatory and for carpenters at the time, very expensive 5 or 6 bucks an hour between employer and employee so I paid my dues I guess. The state lost, well actually I guess we both lost.
If you part with that rig Wynn, let me know, I'll come down and get it. You can keep the radar detector...................

Nice ride!!

THANKS yes it is a fabulous vehicle we've had 3 diff caddy's, this is the 1rst time with the suv series.
she said as she gets older having the extra ground clearance is a piece of mind, but as usual if the snow gets too bad she'll take my p/u with 4x4.
this is our 2nd AWD Caddy the last was a 07 STS AWD & there great for show & performance, now add rain/snow & 4in of ground clearance makes for a insecure piece of mind.
as for reading up on all the goodies well let's just say that's her job, this is a Premium series & when they say every option known to man kind there not kidding.
if i did'nt talk her into getting rid of our 99 STS she probably would still have it, it was FWD & drove great with a amazing ride & comfort but when she hit 120k i thought it was time to move on.
the Northstar engines were amazing & lasted very trust worthy, but when something did go wrong well you better have a bank roll to fund your issues.
3 weeks after getting our 07 STS she said i don't like it & i wan't my 99 back i just laughed, we got the 07 in late fall & the 1rst snow we had she came home from work aallllll p!ssed off & said here you drive it.
so i said well it's AWD it should be good in the snow right??? so i took it to a open Lowe's parking lot to see what she was talking about & let me tell you that thing snapped around on me without even thinking about it.

Finally parted from my '92 Ford Ranger. I sold a Honda Accord my wife drove, gave her the CR-V I drove and bought a daily driver. It holds my 6.5" son and his son's car seat in the back with room for his other son too. 28 bags of mulch was easy. Four months old and acorn dings on the hood. Not new any more. 😏

We spend so much on ammo and pistols, we can only afford older used vehicles. Our last new car was purchased in 1989. Currently driving a 9 year old daily driver. We did upgrade the wife to a 5 year old Rav4. So we are making progress. Some day I might own something I feel photo worthy.

Nah! It ain't gotta be new to be photo worthy. The only new vehicles I buy are trucks. Then I keep 'em a lo-o-o-o-ong time. I have a hard time buying cars because normal stuff kinda bores me. That Audi I posted above was a good one: 300+ horsepower, AWD, 6spd: and 10+ years old so it was pretty darn cheap too. But I'm fickle and sold it so it's back to the drawing board. :) It's odd that I can keep a truck 15 years but I get tired of a car in just a few months.

Bought a new Accord in 2002, drove that until 2014............that's when Accords were good. Bought a new Accord in 2008..........still driving it, but I swear that the 02 rode better for my tastes. Bought a new Subaru Legacy in 2014. Found the only 1 of 2 within 200 miles, that had the big motor, and all the goodies, without all of that Eyesight ***** that drives for you. I told my wife, the day that I can't drive anymore, just shoot me. So far, the Subaru is a very nice car, and that all wheel drive up nort here, works so well in snow and ice situations.

They definitely dinged my 4 month old Silverado. Too big for the garage holding lots of stuff. I wonder if the aluminum F150s would fare better? Or worse? I now park it in the back yard where less acorns are bombing. It's not new anymore.

We rented a Legacy back in June in Seattle. Drove it to Spokane and Yakima and got about 30 mpg. It was a very comfy and confidence building car. Loved the SiriusXM radio and the flash drive music I brought just in case. My PM45 enjoyed the smooth ride too.

Looks brand spanking new to me, you take good care of it.

My van is a 2000 and I'm hoping the same, not ready for car payments again that's for sure.

If that's your garage you got some serious storage issues. I think I have a concrete floor but I have so much junk in there I'm not really sure sometimes.

Hey Barth, it doesn't matter. I love to talk about cars. In fact I spend more time with and talking about cars than I do guns. Which reminds me - I have to change my avatar. I sold the BMW last week and bought a Jaguar F-type convertible. Still have the AMG and the much appreciated Volt electric daily driver.

The thread might be 7 years old but my 2002 Buick Regal GS is 15. Got it in January 05. People are always in such a hurry. They pull up on the right at a red light knowing their lane ends in a block & they're going to pass my old Buick but they soon find out that my supercharger still works.

NICE! I looked at one once at a dealer from about 10' away. They didn't seem to want me to get any closer. Look fast sitting in the show room.

I've been driving a real blast from the past.

A 1995 Ford Taurus.

My mom bought the car in her 80's and didn't drive it much. My sister inherited it and hardly ever drove it.

My sister passed and now I have it.

Only 42k miles and drives like a new car.

I was going to sell it, but decided to put miles on it instead.

I change cars a lot - always have one or two fun cars and a DD. Since this post started I have had three Corvettes, two Mercedes's, one BMW, two Jaguars, one Prius, one Ford C-Max plug in, and one Volt electric. Currently, I'm down to the Volt and a 575 horsepower Jag F-Type.

Still pulling for 1 of these days we get either a LIKE or THANKS option in a post when its made.
The Vette really is a comfortable ride, bought it 120mi from home & when we got back i told my wife it rides as nice as your Caddy SRX.
She did'nt believe me so she took it for a ride & had as big of a smile as i did after test drive at dealer.

A good grandpa car, a BMW 535i but I did have a Dinan exhaust installed just so when I start it up it reminds me of my much younger days.

Sold my 2000 Cherokee Sport to one of my sons, so this ‘19 Civic EX Turbo is my new ride. Dunno why the gerbil needs a turbo, but I like the wide doors to slide my ample carcass in & out easily. The wife drives a ‘17 Accord.
First non-US brand cars I ever bought.... except for a couple of MG roadsters back in the day. Funny though, this Civic was assembled in Canada and the Accord in Kentucky. ;)

I think a lot of our are made from parts from over yonder.
No shame involved here. Toyota's and Honda's run forever. Ours are actually doing better than they used to.
I'm still in my 2000 F word van and still going, hope it keeps doing for for a good while. Hate the thought of car payments.

Oh, I thought he just kept the windshield really really clean, didn't notice there weren't no glass...good eye.
Good to have a back up plan, my van is at about 150,000, chevy pickup is over 200,000 and still ticking, wifes mustang is 2014 so it still new.
We just bought my moms Rav 4 2012 I think, it's not to high mileage and should be good on the hill on snow days. I can only drive the van and the pickup, nothing else set up for a broom stick or hand controls. Might put some in the Rav for short road trips, room in the back for the chair.

Back when I was 16, I saved up and bought my first car. A 1963 VW Beetle. Paid $300.00 for it. Had a roll back sunroof, no gas gauge, could fill it up for around $3.00. Spent countless hours taking it hunting in the back woods, fishing in all kinds of terrain and had my first kill with a young lady in it. It was the most fun car I ever owned. Miss the car and the times.

My 88 year old Mother recently sold her 87 Volvo. Over 400,000 miles. (garage Kept). Now drives a Camry and misses her Volvo.

PS A young teenage boy, bought the car for $800.00 and fell in love with it. Hope he has as much fun and love for it as my mother did and I did my old VW.
