View Full Version : Sell it or hold on to it?

TI bought an older PM9 (2006) recently . It had been barely used when I got it. After breaking it in, I noticed one of the polymer rail guides had some scratching or gouging and the slide and frame did not meet perfectly flush at the rear. The frame overlaps the slide about 1/16 of an inch.
It functions fine and is extremely accurate. Folks here and Ian at Kahr said not to worry and just enjoy it.
I still ordered a new one which arrives in a couple of days. In the meantime, i have been shooting the hell out of the old one and it really is fine. No problems.
I had plans to sell it after the new one gets here and I break it in. But now I'm having second thoughts.
Some members seem to treasure these "blunt nose" pistols. Why is that?
Should I hang onto it? Would you keep it or sell it and why?
I got the new one at a hell of a good price and know I can sell it NIB at a profit.
Decisions, decisions.

There's a certain member here, who loves anything with a blunt nose.............he can tell you why to keep the blunt nose. You may have difficulty understanding it, though.

Unless you want 2, I'd keep the one you know is reliable.

I am a FNG when it comes to the Kahr line here but I also have been buying and selling guns for 40 plus years most of them I don't miss. But I have kicked myself in the a#@ over some of them that I can't get back. At this time I only have a CW45 but there will probably be a PM9 in the near future. Back to the post question, If I were you I would keep the reliable, accurate older model and break in the new one and have a spare in case your original needs repair.
Just my 2 cents, Good Luck with your choice whichever way it goes.

What you are calling polymer rails are only functional as guides when re-installing the slide, and dust covers.
You can expect to experience that same galling/shaving condition on your new gun when you shoot it, as we all have.

I know this.
Had you read my original post instead of, I'm guessing now, just skimming it, you would have known that I already knew what you wasted your time posting.
Quite a few members here and Ian at Kahr told me what you just told me. And I mentioned that in the first post.
Did you read the first post at all?
I only ask because if you did read it you wouldn't have wasted* your time posting what you did and I would not have wasted my time reading it.

mickeyfinn ,I don't have a dog in this fight but you are rude. How about trying to be civil for a change. Are you just looking for a fight all the time? There are good people on this forum that try to help others and you jump down there throat for no reason.

If its reliable I'd keep it at least for the time being. If the new one proves reliable after run in, then you can make your choice based on which one you like more. You are sure to have a favorite.

This is sound advice. I'll follow it, too.

I suppose I could have said it nicer but the fact is he wasted his time and mine.
Why would someone comment on anything here if they have not even read the original post to see what they are commenting on? This makes no sense.
You don't have to read EVERY post in a thread in order to comment but I think you need to read at least the first one in order to know what you're commenting on.

I don't get you dude? You insult people who are offering you kind advice that comes with the fact of you creating a post. If you are unable to be respectful to others then please don't post here.
And I agree, Tilos did waste his time posting a reply cuz instead of thanking him you blast him instead.

You could have thanked him or just shut up and said nothing instead of wasting our time with your displays of bitterness.

There is not disrespect here. You just don't get it.
Had he read the initial post, he would not have posted those redundancies thus saving him his own time and me mine.
How can you post on a topic you have not read? Why would you post on a topic you have not read? it's like shooting in complete darkness. You MIGHT hit something... but you probably won't.
It makes no sense.

You cannot know that he didn't read your post and then posted a reply. Besides the point is not him and his reply but your rudeness. Just chill out dude.
I'm done "wasting my time" anymore with you bud.

Why'd you open this thread about the galling, just to waste your time typing:confused:
I did read your post where you mention the galling and that Ian and others had mentioned it...but you never stated that you had excepted this explanation;).
Thanks for you concern about my time, and since I added your name to my ignore list, it won't happen again.

Seems to be a common denominator here.
Civility and politeness go a long way in keep thing forum the way it is.
If unhappy with a response, take it for what it's worth and move on.
The post confirming what Ian and others said I did not find wasteful in the least, just a confirmation.
Only a mole hill, not a mountain.

Since he has not chimed in, I will take the liberty of posting for him, thereby saving his valuable time:
"Keep dat blunt nose fokker and sell the other one!"
You're welcome.

You can't have too many carry pistols. If you ever have to use one, the cops will take it and you'll be without it for a LONG time. They're funny like that, but you might need an EDC pretty quick if you P.O'd some BG's buds.
