I've owned this CZ since Feb 2013 and have really liked it!
It's one of the most accurate guns I've shot, and is as reliable as the day is long.
However, I sent it out to cajun gun works because the DA (it's a DA/SA gun)
trigger was really heavy and these folks can also shorten the overall trigger reach. That's a great bonus for people with small hands.

Anyway, I went to the range today and the work they did was excellent!!
There is a tiny bit of trigger creep but that should smooth out with some
more range time.
The DA trigger is the best of any DA/SA gun I've ever shot!!

Even if I never had any trigger work I would have changed out the firing pin.
From my understanding that is the weak link in the CZ guns. I guess they will eventually break with extensive dry firing (which I do a lot of).

If you go to their site (www.cajungunworks.com) I had "The Pro Package" work
done to my gun.

Just a little more feed back on my part.
The short reset trigger is very manageable i.e.. I feel very safe with it.
I've shot a couple of Walthers and a Sig. with short reset triggers that concerned me enough that I would not carry them.

David at CGW is awesome. I've sent all my CZs to him. They are the best triggers I have in any weapon.

Alphones, which CZ's do you have?

I also have a CZ 85 which I will send to him in a few weeks.

Another great thing I failed to mention in my review is the personal attention
David gives his customers.

To those who don't know him. After you contact him and send your gun with a list of the requested work he puts your gun in the cue and then "CALLS YOU"
right before he begins the work, so he is clear about what you want!!
His work is just not an assembly line operation.

I have a Sig P220 with SRT trigger, and I wouldn't be concerned at all about carrying it. It's da/sa............no problem. I really like the SRT trigger. Can be a very fast shooter.

I have an SP01 and a 75BD. I had the defensive carry package done. Later, the short reset sear was developed and I added that myself. The new firing pins hadn't come out yet. I am looking at either a PCR or a P09 as my next CZ. For dry firing, I just drop an o-ring between the hammer and firing pin. David's service is amazing.

o-ring, nice idea.

AIRret, that firing pin in your CZ won't break if you chamber a snap cap to cushion the blow of the hammer.

Yes, I've used snap caps and a laserlite (spelling?) cartridge, but I like all the options.

When I dry fire a revolver or a 22 rim fire I always use snap caps.

For me when it comes to a self defense trigger "all" SRT triggers are equal.
When an adrenaline surge happens I want to have a little more control.
I think it's a personal choice.
Sure the Sig SRT is "really" fast, and fun but not for me when it comes to cc.
Cajun guns work strikes the right balance for me and the trigger is still fast enough.

^^^^ yeah, I think I've discovered the true definition of the term "gun collector". It's not that guys like me look for collectible firearms, it's more that we can never manage to sell one once we buy it (or regret selling those that we do sell).

Ain't the the TRUTH!

I think most of us on this forum fit your definition of gun collector.

I can't focus enough to be a collector, I'm more of an accumulator, but I do hate parting with any. Just always seems to be parting remorse.

I guess I am not understanding........................the first pull is DA, long DA, so if it's a safety issue, I am not understanding. My Beretta 96 operates the same way, only with a safety. Pretty much one of the safest firearms you can carry. So, I am assuming that you carry all da firearms.;)

No the first pull is not an issue AT ALL!!!!!
That's the beauty of the DA/SA. However, when you get down to the SA feature and you have to fire more than two rounds you still want to be in
control, even though the adrenaline is through the roof!

I grew up in Detroit and I was shot at when I was 15 (my fault I chased one guy who ran right, the dog chased two guys that ran left…..I had no gun,.. what the…?ell did I think I was going to do when or if I had caught him???).

I, and my family, and several friends have been in some unsafe situations and we were always facing 3 to 5 bad guys (which might require several shots).
The only exceptions where when my Dad was car jacked and the time when a guy exposed himself to me and chased me towards his running car…….those were the only times there was only one attacker!!!

By the way I got away from the jerk chasing me, and my Mother wouldn't let me call the cops……that still angers me.

Anyway, now you can see why I'm so serious about carrying a gun and defending myself! I'm committed to not BEING a victim!!

I now live in a much safe area, however, I'm always in condition yellow, which I think is great! I have no regrets!

My P-01 is going to CGW or CZ Custom as soon as I have the time and inclination to let it go for a few weeks. But I can't seem to do that. I keep fearing I'll miss it too much.

CZ P-09 is next on my 9mm list. But I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and order one directly from CGW. They have them pre-built for about the same price as a new one sent to them. So you pretty much save the shipping cost back-n-forth.

I should have said disconnector on the short reset. I installed in in the BD. I didn't think it was bad at all, even though I guess it is worse than the safety model. My SPO1 was done late enough David put in the disconnector.

+1
P220 45 and P239 357 Sig.
Both guns have professional trigger jobs and SRT kits installed.
DA is very revolver like to me.
I used to carry the Sigs regularly with confidence.
My HKs of the same size just have more capacity.

I was shot at twice while working at a gas station when I was younger. Doesn't stop me from carrying a da/sa firearm. I fact, If I ever do have to shoot someone in self defense, I hope I do experience adrenaline overload, and empty the mag into them. If I'm going to prison, one shot or ten won't make much difference.:59:

I carry DA/SA often (sometimes on my person and sometimes attached to the counsel in one of the vehicles). The only one I own that I don't carry is my
Sig 239 DA/SA with SRT, because in single action I don't like the trigger.

I have carried the SP 01 Tactical and I will continue to carry it with confidence
(when I carry it at 9:30 or 10:00 I wear suspenders to compensate for the weight) I think the trigger is better than ever. I'm just not comfortable caring the Sig 239 with the SRT. That's just me.
I also occasionally carry my 28 year old Sig 226 DA/SA and it is old enough that the SA is like butter.

Chrish,

I was thinking of you today. I finally got a good look at a P07 Duty. It's good enough to finally get me to buy a polymer pistol. Have you tried the Omega trigger? It's really nice...smooth...around 7lb/3.5lb DA/SA. I doubt you will need to spend the extra $$ to order one custom from CGW. The stock Omega trigger rivaled my CZ Custom Shop trigger IMO. I'll be getting one in .40. You can count on it.

No, unfortunately, have not run across a P07 or a P09 to try the trigger. But I've read it's pretty impressive for a stock trigger. The Omega trigger is exactly why the P-09 is on my 'next' list. Well, that and 19+1...haha.

There is a CZ dealer about 2 hrs from where I live. Might have to make a road trip. They have a few of the P-09 models in stock.

Just figured might as well get it as good as possible by ordering a CGW version. Maybe I'll hold off based on your experience. Thanks!

Great. A first-hand experience. Was the difference worth the expense? I really feel the stock trigger is acceptable but you and chrish have me thinking...

Thanks!

Even though you have me thinking about waiting until I see a P-09 in person in regard to the CGW upgrades...similar to what twowheels is saying, there are a few folks over at http://www.czfirearms.us/ that have made the upgrades to the P-07 or P-09 and say that it basically takes a good trigger (Omega), one that was better than the CZ 75 triggers like the P-01/SP-01 out of the box, and making it near perfection.

So, yep, makes you think...

I made the tour of my favorite gun shops today and found the P07 2014 model in 40cal for what seemed to be a fair price. So I bought it and still feel the trigger is great. A little stiffer than I recall from my first try but I will shoot the heck out of it and see what develops. I still doubt that I will ever need an upgrade but it's nice to know it's available.

Oh, and there's a Glock joke in there somewhere...."near perfection".

Sweeeeet. Definitely be interested in your impressions after a few range trips.

Of course there's a Glock joke in there. I mean, the CZ cannot be, with any amount of upgrades, Glock 'Perfection'. But I ask you, is anything really as good as a Glock. I mean really, 'cmon.

I keep coming back to whether I _really_ need another 9mm pistol. Whether I really _need_ a full size pistol. My P-01 is plenty accurate at the distances I'm shooting. About the same weight as the P-09. And I've got a pile of 16 round mags for it. Well prepped to be my SHTF sidearm and range gun.

But alas, I digress, do any of us _really_ _need_ another firearm.
