Took a drive to Gander Mt this morning and skipped on the turkey hunting for a day....although it is a beautiful day to hunt. Anyway, lucked out. They had two limits on 22 ammo. They offered 250 round limit (can not remember the price / 50 rds), OR a bulk ammo can of 1600 CCI's for $120. CCI tends to be a little pricier, but I did not think it was a bad deal for 16 boxes of 100 plus a small ammo can. This brought my stock up a bit and now I can shoot my M&P22 a little more. Thank you Gander. Dicks Sporting Goods, as usual had nothing.

I scored a "Value Pack" of Federal the other day. The store has a limit, so I had to buy this to be privileged enough to purchase that much .22 ammo at one time:

Darn, the bad luck...:D

The things folks will do to get a brick of 22, I tell ya, there's no limit.

I thought about being at Wally World when they open but I don't get up that early unless I absolutely have to and I figured by the time I camped out, and got through the door I'd forget what I was there for in the first place.

Is that a take down lever above the trigger on that thing? I see a radius in the slide that seems to match it, almost has to be, never seen one of those.

You've a good eye sir, that is a take down lever. The pistol is a Model 75 Beretta (http://books.google.com/books?id=okQH6zFgDtUC&pg=PA31&lpg=PA31&dq=mod+75+beretta&source=bl&ots=MDI-M6pXqy&sig=r9vE2FqO6rFbwfZvxbabuuJC8LA&hl=en&sa=X&ei=owloU7jyA4r9oASX6oCwCA&ved=0CCsQ6AEwATgK#v=onepage&q=mod%2075%20beretta&f=false)

Long as I'm trying to educate myself is the button upper left on the grip there a mag release? Seems like a strange place. Might be ok if it's the same thing on the other side, accessible to the thumb?

Nope, looked at the link, didn't know it was a link right off and the pic showed the other side with a normal looking thumb safety.
So it's mag release but right side only.....

Sorry for the confusion with the link. My 75 is an earlier version of the one in the link. That button (upper left) is the safety ("cross bolt" style). It's awkward to put on safe, but (surprisingly) not that difficult to disengage with the side of your thumb (well, I do have another pistol with the same style safety so that may account for me thinking it's not too difficult to operate).
Here's a photo of the other side (bottom button is the mag release):

FWIW, the other pistol I mentioned above is an Maadi Helwan (a licensed copy of the Beretta M1951/M951 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beretta_M1951)):

We've been getting bricks in fairly regularly the last few weeks but they decided to break down the Blazer's to single boxes. We have a "group" of customers that show up the mornings when we normally put out the new shipment. They buy only the bricks with, as most of us believe, the sole purpose to resell them at quite a profit.

They've been hating to see the bricks broken down.

The Fed's and Win's that we've been getting in bricks we have been putting out in the middle of the day. I just love seeing happy customers paying an honest retail price rather than resorting to paying three to four times outside the doors.

These days I'd jump on the chance to buy 1600 rounds for that price.

gb6491, love those older Berettas, great find.

I believe you are correct and I had to resort to the early AM arrival tactic to get some ammo in my inventory....but not for resale. There were some other guys in the early am line up and they all seemed to know each other. I asked two of them if they shot the ammo or horded it. One guy answered with I shoot some and sell some to guys at the range that need ammo. The other guy did not answer. I also believe some stores sell to guys at a high mark in bulk up on the sly and never put it out to regular customers....but that is a suspicion. It has become a game to buy 22 ammo. At least I can start shooting mine again.

Thanks for bringing the thread from other firearms discussions, back to ammo.

I finally saw some .22 at Walmart's yesterday... Remington .22 shorts for $4.75 a box of 50!

They had plenty of pistol and rifle ammo, but nothing I was interested in... at their prices... 9mm as low as $24.99/$25.99 a 100-rd box of Federal or Winchester FMJ.

Wynn:)

I have not seen 22 shorts on the shelf in years. Amazing.

WM here has a two box limit of any rifle or pistol ammo. Odd thing is you can buy two boxes of 20, or two boxes of 50, or two boxes of 100. I can't figure out the logic.

We have been getting CCI CB .22 shorts in lately, along with CCI and Hornady .22 mag. Not in great numbers but enough to make our customers happier than they have been.
