Anyone have a write up with specifications on this mod? Maybe with exact measurements for at least the first cut. I know after that will basically be shave to fit...

I did the covert thing on my P9 and think the piece that I cut off is around here somewhere, will look and see. It was something like 1/2" but I did a bunch of measuring before making that first cut and having a PM9 to measure against would really be handy.:D

I found the piece off my P9 Covert modification and it measures 3/8" and that's not including the width of the saw blade. Cut it short and put the file and sandpaper to work on the rest of it and when you get close try the magazine often so you don't over do it.
Measured my K9 and MK9 and here are the results:
Bottom of slide to bottom of frame at the front of the grip:
K9 3-5/8" MK9 3-1/8"
Bottom of slide to bottom of frame at back of frame:
K9 3-1/2 MK9 3"
Hope this helps.

If you google 'P9 Covert' you will probably find a write up on it since it's a pretty popular modification, I sure like mine. Good luck.

So it looks like exactly .500"... I'm thinking I should be safe cutting to .450" and sanding the other .050" by hand to fit mag... Sounds easy, just really wish I had detailed info and a walk through. Guess that means I may just have to do the details as I go. I've searched high and low and all the threads I've found only show the finished product with the how-to.
There is supposedly a write up on glock talk, but I guess I can't access it for some reason I don't have the "privileges"

I just went to GlockTalk to see what I could find and there are a bunch of guys wanting to buy P9 Coverts so they seem to be pretty popular. Couldn't find the article showing how to do it but will keep searching and see what turns up.
When you do the measuring, note that the 1/2" difference is NOT parallel to the slide, there is a slight angle to it. I could send you the piece that was cut off mine if that would help some. Send a PM if you want it.

If you have the proper mag for the shorter grip you can measure the difference. Then cut to fit (leave it a little long and file/sand to fit).
Be sure that the new mag fully locks into place.
Just go slow, measure 10 times, don't be skeerd.

Thanks fellas. Shadetree I appreciate the offer, but you don't need to go through the trouble shipping that! Unfortunately in all my searches I've come up with the same results. Very popular but no luck on how-to. Thanks for the tip on the angle. My plan is to caliper .450" up the side of the grip in the from and back of each side draw line, tape line, measure again to make sure it's right and that angle looks right. Then chop and sand to fit. I should be receiving my mags this weekend so I can tackle this next week most likely. In which I plan to do a step by step with pics
