I replaced the guide rod/spring assembly in my MK9. I put the slide back on and now when I rack it, it won't cock and I cannot remove the slide again.
Any suggestions?

Thinking caps on boys and girls. I'm pondering.

Was the new recoil assembly really hard to install by chance?

I am wondering if the slide lock lever is in front of the barrel lug instead of through the barrel lug hole...

If you CAN rack it normally and the trigger position/feel seems Normal, you may have knocked your trigger bar spring out of position.

If the slide position does not return properly to Battery, See Jocko's comments.

If the cocking cam/trigger bar set up is screwed up, the slide will likely not come off. in other words, the slide not coming off is a secondary problem.

If you look at the right side of the gun while you slowly rack it look at the channel between the grip cover and the slide. Pull the trigger over and over and you will see a metal piece sliding in that channel about a quarter inch back and forth (don't need to rack to see this). When you rack, you should be able to see that metal piece drop down (about 1/8"). If it is already down and doesn't come up .... or stays up and doesn't come down ... than it is not engaging the cocking cam properly.

This is likely also causing the slide lock up.

You can also take the right side grip panel off and view this action.

edit/added: the more I think about it, the more this makes perfect sense. The cocking cam would be engaged with the striker in it's normal half cocked position. If the trigger bar spring was not bringing the bar back up into position to engage the cam, your trigger would simply be moving the bar under the cam and NOT releasing the striker. If the cam and striker are engaged, the slide will not come off (as evidenced by the need for pulling the trigger to release the slide when removing it normally). You can get all this back in position by taking off the right side grip panel and holding the bar in place upward while you pull the trigger. Then you can get it apart and find the trigger bar spring somewhere on the floor! or otherwise improperly installed.

FLBri. I just returned from my shop after another attempt to solve the problem. And, I did find that the trigger bar spring was not even there. I did manage to find it under my workbench - quite a stroke of luck.
When I came back in here I found your post. You were right on. Thanks

Nope, piece of cake. It is the assembly from Wolff at 18.5 lbs. The slide is easier to rack now...

How would one knock the trigger bar spring out of position or especially completely out of the gun?

That's not easy to do without that side plate off.

Whatever, I'm glad it's resolved.

Yeah. Some of us are a little too thorough in our cleaning regimen. Sucks to be anal.

For the record it's a good idea to take those grips off from time to time. I've removed many and found a real mess underneath. Frame actually starting to rust, gunk and junk buildup. Solvent and oil creeps under the grip and a few were hard to get off, almost glued to the frame.
