I received this photo of a vintage patrol car in an email recently:
http://i61.tinypic.com/753k.jpg
I tried doing a little research on it and found some interesting sites.
Perhaps, some here might find them interesting as well:

For a little firearms content, here's my Colt Police Positive Special (in .38 Special) from about the same era:

It probably saw some patrol work itself, but south of the border:

Sure like to have that 57 in my garage. Always liked those. Family had one when growing up. Straight 6, three on the tree.

Thanks Greg, that was really fun to look through....I remember a few of those 71 Plymouth Satellites from Dekalb County Police with the little backwards facing hood scoops and running from them on my Honda Trail 70 after illegally riding it in the park back in the day when I was a hoodlum, Never did catch ole Getsome and the gang though....:D.....Those fellows gave it a hell of a try to catch us before we hit the woods and those cars would do a fine burnout using up those skinny little bias ply county tires...

I outrun em a few times on my Mini Trail 70 too.

Only time they caught me was once I was giving my sister a ride to her friends house, 5/0 got on me and I told her to jump off and run between the houses, not enough beans to get away with both of us on it.

She would jump, figured the cops would shoot me like Bonnie and Clyde. They got me that time. I didn't give her no more rides though.

It was a hell of an outlaw life, always looking over your shoulder, didn't have no mirrors. That ole 70 has a few stories she did.

Here is an article and pictures of the retro cars the Kansas Highway Patrol rolled out for their 75th anniversary.

Just requalified on LEDT. Law Enforcement Driver Training today, Pursuits, TVI, Collision Avoidance. Fun day. Just as good as a day at the firing range.

I've only had the opportunity to experience our fine LEO's vehicles for the backseat once in my lifetime.

I can honestly say I truly appreciate them from the exterior view!

I think we need to get Bawanna and his trail 70 to your place and see how it goes. Give you some real world practice. :D

Somebody will need to post some pics of the great escape though.

Didn't have cell phones or cameras on every pole back in those days.

I even got chased a couple times by an unmarked car. Things were different back in those days, they just wanted to chew me out some. And they were laughing the one time they did catch me with sister on the back. Told me I needed a bigger bike.

Don't know why they bothered to even try, they knew where I lived. I guess it's all about the chase?

I too had a CT70. Used to run the roads to and from the trails with it. Top speed, 43 mph. They are quite collectible now.

When this miserable old world does finally come to an end there will only be a few things left, cock roachs, rats, moocher liberals and indestructable Honda Trail 70's

Those photos reminded me of the local small town PD.

Oh ya, they had a little french(I think) LaCar, the bubble gum machine on top covered 'bout a third of the roof. Don't recall the color of the LaCar.

We have a little western type tourist town couple hours away and they still have several old cars set up as police rigs. They had an old dodge charger, seems like I recall a 68 or 69 Camaro, some others I don't recall.

Kind of cool to see em. Pretty small town, only one main intersection and the officer on duty is usually in the little coffee shop/gift shop which sits right at that intersection.

This got me thinking back...........I was never allowed to own any type of bike back when..........my parents probably saved my life, but, my friend had a Trail 70, and amongst my other friends, there was a Yamaha 80, a Yamaha 100, a Sears 80, and a Garelli 125.............so, I just rode theirs. I remember going down an old tm track as a passenger, and my friend ducking, and getting a wire across the chest.......yeah, removed me from that bike lickity split.........it's amazing how fast 30 mph can be. Man, did that hurt.:o

I sold my Trail 70 back in 1973 to buy a bigger motocross bike but I'm sure that old CT70 is still running and going strong somewhere....Our gang consisted of a couple mini bikes, a minitrail 50, my CT70 and one Hodaka 100 and we were pure hoodlums on those bikes....We all went to the movies to see "On Any Sunday" and "Easy Rider" about 50 times and we thought we were junior Hells Angels on our bikes....

I'm sure God was watching over us because we tried every stunt that would get you killed and never gave it a thought....We rode along an active Southern Railroad track and one stunt had somebody ride double on the back of a bike running alongside a train and the guy on back would get off the bike and hang on the train until the end of the trail then get back on the bike....Once the stunt went bad and one of our gang members didn't make it back on the bike and ended up way up the road about 40 miles before the train stopped and he could get off...I'm not sure how he explained that one to his parents but they had to go get him from the Police station, I of course denied being there and knew nothing of the event...;)

I had a Hodaka 100 too. Flat tracked it for many years. One tough bike that one. Always wanted the Combat Wambat but never got one.

I'm sure that thing is still going strong someplace too.

I had the beloved Mini Trail 70 and a Trail 90, one of them step thru's with a high and low range. I took it on the freeway once, that was skeeery. Riding double too. Double skeeery.
