Last night I acquired a 686 and 629 both 4"'ers. They are in immaculate condition and were obviously not fired much. They have been stored in a recently deceased dudes gun safe for almost 20 years unfired and untouched. Off to the range this weekend.

Lucky for you. Being at least 20 years old they have no ILS. Great guns that I'm sure you will enjoy. I recently bought a 337ti with the same story as yours. Never fired but the action was a little stiff until I lubed & worked it. Came with case & the outside box. I already put 50 through it & it shoots great. Hope the same results for you. Keep me posted.

Bawanna has been wanting a 686. Tell him you paid at least $900 for it so he doesn't feel too bad.

Ooooh another shot to Nemo and the twins.
I actually have a 629 no key required I been pondering parting with but I know I'd hate myself. Might do it anyhow.
6" Classic Hunter.

I've been on the lookout for a 629 myself, but more in the 6"ish variety. Congrats on the find! Both are great firearms.

Hold on to that 629, but if you do decide to part with it, I kind of like them, particularly with the un-fluted cylinder.

Yeah. Mines an unfluted 6"

Are you bragging or complaining? We are still talking guns here aren't we?

That is what I paid for the pair.
I had a Lew Horton 2-1/2 inch Model 29. The knuckle on my middle finger of my right hand remembers it to this day in cold weather! That gun was fun to carry, fun to bring out at the range, and not fun to shoot! It went from customer, to me, to each of the four other guys at the range, who had to have it.... and quickly sold it once shooting it. I have no idea where it ended up, but thinking back, some hot .44 specials would have been just the ticket for that revolver. Heed the warning!
And nice find!

That is a great price. And, it give me a great comparable sale for if Bawanna wants to sell me his revolver!

I'd be hard pressed to offer the 629 up by itself for 900.
Probably a bit optimistic but certainly not half that for sure.

I picked up my LNIB 629 4" Mountain Gun for $350 about 20 years ago.
The LGS had a second standard 629 4" for that price too.
I should have bought both.
I've had several offers to buy it for much more than that over the years.
No way I'm ever selling that puppy.
Back in the day, I didn't even know what a Mountain Gun was.
The gun shop owner had to explain the details to me - LOL.
Tapered 44 special barrel, chamfered cylinder, glass bead blasted satin finish, combat hammer and trigger with a round butt grip.
It's a work of art.

Back in 82 a guy from work had a stainless 3 inch python & I handled it. What a smooth action it had. It was very expensive somewhere around $450.

That's because you wouldn't really sell it! You're an accumulator. I suppose it takes one to know one.
I have to say, I really haven't minded getting rid of the Ruger P944 and PC4 I had. Nothing wrong with them, but I never really bonded with them either. That about sums up the list of guns that went away.

I went shooting over the weekend. Shot 150 rounds thru each one. Average group size was 1" at 35 yards. Very pleased. However cleaning a revolver compare to a semi auto is a royal pain in the keister. Both actions are smooth as silk. Damn I was lucky to find these and ever luckier at the price I paid.

Yes you were indeed and before one of these other vultures attacks as part of my new redistribution of luck program I think it's only fair you send me that 686, then we'll both be very lucky.
Please no picture, would just increase my jealousy.
