Noob here. After how many rounds do most of you go before stripping and cleaning the upper? I note the hole in the upper/slide that I can blow gunk out, so I would think we can go awhile. But too much of a noob to my Kahr here. Love tweaking this thing. It is soooo malleable and responsive to mods.
Thank you in advance,
Gun

Honestly? Never. I'll keep using the flush hole until I see gunk coming out. Or until I notice a problem. Not yet in about 1500 rounds each gun.
It's easy enough to do so many here will disagree. And it is good maintenance. I suspect many did it when their guns were new and never did it again. Maybe.

That's me. Did it new just to see what was inside, it was pristine. Haven't had it apart since.
I don't even use the clean out hole every cleaning, just once in awhile.

+1 for four semi-auto pistols, two with 2,000 rounds. Aerosol non-chlorine brake cleaner for 3-4 seconds. Also squirt the ejector.

Over 3,000 rounds…….just use the brake cleaner every other time I shoot the gun, and my PM9 shoots everything!!

my PMJ9 all apart ONE FOKKING time, since then the little hole serves me perfectly. I love little holes, kinda makes me feel aganostic:amflag:

:59: Each to his or her own, of course. I disassemble the upper every time, after a few dozen tries it becomes easy:rolleyes:. even made a tool for this, a piece of piano wire, bent into a " l__l " shape, to hold the firing pin spring missile (could take an eye out with that thing).
http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=11399 post 13 has picture of this tool, thanks ripley.:yo:
One could change the oil in their car after every outing, but that may not be necessary.

I field strip, clean, & lube all my guns after every use. It's just the way my Dad taught me.
There's somethin' about the smell of Hoppe's #9 in the air that keeps me in that routine.
I've had tops apart a few times, but that was refinishing, or to check for excessive debris under the striker lock. There was no debris.
For cleaning? Just use the clean-out hole and spray clean the channel. A very, and I mean VERY minor amount of the finest lube you can find can be applied, if you must, but most folks let it run dry. You don't want lube to turn to glop there.
