Had a couple Border Terrier puppies abandoned in town and turned in to the department. We waited the 3 days trying to locate owners without success and I made the mistake of looking at them. I took one and a detective took the other.
Cute little buggers. Brought her home tonight and sure acts like she's gonna be a good dog so far anyhow.

We're pondering a name as we speak. Open to idea's.
Figured we'd give it a day or two in case her personality just sings some sort of name.

For some reason I always associate dogs with boys. And boys names.
And I really dig Beardogs Rotties so I think of big boy names.
Course if I ever had a Rottie I'd probably name it Tiny.

I've always been rather fond of the name "Jocko" for a dog. Particularly if it's a sheep dog. Works well for a Shih tzu, too. :)

Puppy looks all settled in and happy. Way to go , give a pup a good home.

Whiskers might work for a name. Of course after a weeks of pee'n and poop'n and chew'n on thangs it might be better to call him Dam'it.

You guys are good. I wrote down them names.
I think she's gonna be a great dog. Good disposition, even comes when you call her and she feels like coming.

Even met the cat, actually the dog was asleep but the cat snuck up and sniffed her face to face and didn't scratch her eyes out.

Even met the two horses. Ran for her little life at first, then turned around and charged em. Son grabbed her before she got too close. Later the other horse actually put her head down and they touched noses. Wish I'd got a picture of that.

I think she slept with my son. Wife tossed him in bed with me at O dark thirty this morning where she immediately set forth to lick my face off and then resorted to that puppy biting and chewing thing. Must be cutting teeth.

I feel bad she's at home in a crate but wife only works half day today so it won't be too long. She's home tomorrow so that's good.
I think I'll bring her back to work next week. The violets here love to mess with her so she'll get attention and be able to get out and run around a little bit.

I think we're good match. I'm kind of partial to the name suggestion Damit.

Jackie and Whiskers sound appealing too.

That dog couldn't have found a better owner. I'm thinking of getting a Pit Yorkie myself.

Congratulations!!!

I was wondering when another puppy would find his/her way into your home!

You are one lucky-dog….I mean Man!

You could call her "trouble"!!

Or maybe Alice, she looks like an Alice but you be the judge of that.

My folks had a little Bichon Frise they found many years ago, they called her Keeper, cause they kept her.

Bawanna
06-05-2014, 01:52 PM
My parents used to Bichon Frise once in a while too. I tried to just shut it out and I don't think it had any traumatic effect on my formative years.

I don't know what that has to do with the name Keeper but that has a nice ring to it too. Writing it down.

Bite Me!

I near blowed up a new 75 Toyota when my youngest son was born. I went to get cigars and its a boy suckers. Went up to the counter and the sales lady asked his name I said Clinton. She said oh you named him after the president. I left my wallet and the suckers on the counter and whooped that little toyota for all it was worth back to the hospital.
Full run up to the maternity ward. Grabbed the nurse that was taking care of us and the paperwork and such, out of breath and sweaty from the long high pressure run.
She asked what was wrong. I asked if she'd turned in the birth certificate yet?
She said she still had it but it was going in soon. I told her we had to change it. She was like ok, was there a mistake. Damn straight there's a mistake.

Take off the "on" his name is Clint.

The lady at the candy store tracked me down at the hospital and returned my wallet and "free" suckers. Apologized for traumatizing me. I offered her money for saving my sanity. No idea what I was thinking. Name a son after Clinton. I should have hung myself.

That's a terrific idea and I'm sure Dietrich would be so proud. Probably chuckling at the very thought.

Some have no taste when naming dogs.

She kinda looks like a Maggie to me. When I was a kid we had a German Shepard named Maggie, greatest dog I've ever known until many years later we rescued a little mutt out of the pound we named Bruzer.

Some folks tend to use a pet name more than once but those are two names I'll never use again. Feel free to use Maggie if you like. She just looks like that name might fit her to me.

And congrats and good on you for taking the little gal in! Hmmm, we also had a dog named Gal???

Did you adopt the dog, or did the dog adopt you??

Write down the names on your list. Make the letters real bigg, put the list on the floor, and let Her Pick Her Own Name.

No matter how it comes out, you done good!

It looks like my son and daughter are conspiring to over throw the committee and call her Daisy?

She's really become smitten with my wife and son, wife was home first and she wouldn't let her out of her sight. She went to solder fish lures and the dog kept climbing her leg. Finally had to let her sit behind her in the office chair and she was happy.
Then when son got home he suck with him. They even gave her a bath in the kitchen sink.

Don't hardly give me the time of day but she's still wicked cute.

We'll see how the name thing plays out.

Colonel, Does he chase the Laser, as well?

Bawanna
06-06-2014, 10:56 AM
I was just fixing to post that. She does but not for long. I don't know if it's because dogs are so much smarter than cats or if it's young puppy short attention span. She chased the heck out of it for a minute or so, then ignored it.

I'd like to harness and bottle the puppy energy. I'd have to hire people to count my money.

Good alarm clock too. There's no ignoring her when the wife tosses her in the bed. Goes right into chewing your face off mode.

Having fun. Anxious to get past the puppy biting mode but not too anxious.

Looks like you got a good one there.

I named our last dawg "Squirt" for her bladder activity, not her size.

Good ol' Squirt, been gone 7 years now. :(

Bawanna
06-06-2014, 01:29 PM
I thought of Squirt too. The committee is pretty much still set on Daisy. I guess I better try and get used to it.

I seldom call em by name anyhow, usually a slang nick name not generally spoken in church or public.

She's a riot though. Great fun.

This puppy is a Diva. Worse than a baby, it follows you around and cries to be held. It's ok for awhile if your close by but leave the room and she's after ya.
Moments like this are blissful and you try to get something done for these brief periods. She's gonna be a good dog though, I can feel it in my cells.
