When replacing the recoil spring do you guys recommend replacing the entire assembly including the guide rod or just the outer spring?

Either, or. Usually you can get away with just replacing the outer. It isn't that costly to replace the entire asby.

Thanks. I want to have a spare one on hand so I think I'll just buy the entire assembly.

If you replace the inner spring how is the best way to get the nut off the guide rod without damaging it?

I ended up buying just the outer spring from Wolff. Picked up the stock 18# and 20.5# extra power. The Wolff springs have one less coil than the stock Kahr. I count 13.5 on the Kahr spring and 12.5 on both Wolff springs. I'm able to reassemble the CM9 and lock the slide back with the 20.5# Wolff. I'm hoping the heavier spring soaks up a bit more recoil. I put the stock spring back in until I can go to the range to test function the 20.5.

Deadeye, If you order from Kahr, it's the whole assembly. They may send the wrong one, however, as they did me twice. Finally got the right one.

I ordered one in the first place as the nut came off of the original spring assy. After they sent the wrong one (and didn't want it back) I used a pair of pliers to remove the nut and put the nut on the original assembly. Make sure you use a little Locktite on it when reassembling.

It's easy to work with in a cocked, unloaded pistol as the nut is extended from the slide, not under any spring pressure.
