By Robert A. Hall
I'm 73 Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I've worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven't called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there's no retirement in sight, and I'm tired. Very tired.
I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.
I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor"; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't "believers;" of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery;" of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur'an and Sharia law tells them to.
I'm tired of being told that, out of "tolerance for other cultures," we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America and Canada , while no American nor Canadian group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance..
I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate.
> I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off?
I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.
I'm real tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.
Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 73.. Because, mostly, I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my granddaughters and grandson.

Good post and so true. I'm in the same age range and have never not worked, sometimes two or three jobs, since I was eleven. Occasionally, I look back and try and determine when we lost control. Maybe it was in the thirties with FDR or maybe in the sixties under LBJ. I can never decide. However fifty years from now, I think people will say it was right now with Obama and the Dems.

The system is broken.
I can't swear this is true but a friend of a friend who I've met a couple time years ago and is mid 60's to early 70's had to have a pace maker or some such thing installed. In order for the hospital to give him a cut rate, apparently he's retired with minimal or no insurance, he had to provide his last 3 income tax statements.
Well surprise surprise, he'd never filed income tax in his whole life. Not once.
So he contacts a tax attorney who tells him no problem. So he files some sort of amended tax return for each of the last 3 years.
Mr no pay his taxes got his pace maker and a 4800 dollar earned income tax credit:eek:
How does one go his whole life and not pay income tax.
I've never not worked, never been unemployed, never drew a single unemployment check. Something ain't right.
One of my wife's employers messed up and didn't withhold enough, I had to pay almost 3 grand last year. If it happens again I don't think I'll pay.
I'll probably be in federal penitentiary within the week.

I was tired too. I worked my entire life since I was 13...never took 1 cent from unemployment. Was a professional. I was tired of it all. But I saved and invested and lived within my means all those years. Now I am retired and loving it. The world has always had its' problems and challenges...and it always will. Enjoy life. Live it and be as happy as you can be.

I admire the older generations for being able to see America how America was and should be. Instead I'm wrapped up with all these "progressive" millennials. I graduated high school working a full time job my last semester. At age 19 I started working on pipelines for BP.
I'm 28 next month and have been working 40-60 hours a week since I was 19. I skipped out on be a lazy ass like most of my friends. Some still are to this day. I talk to my peers about politics and they speak about real world issues that they have never had contact with. They sit around on unemployment and Medicaid bitching about those with money. I have never used government aid that I have payed into for years. I don't plan to, I plan on working everyday to support my family like my fathers before me. I plan on taking personal responsibility for my issues and under achievements
I admire the older generation for dispatching before it gets worse. I hope to fight on and curve younger generations on capitalism, ethics, morals and god.
I say thanks to those who helped build this country with their hands and don't give up on us younger folk.

Thank you for that post of encouragement for those of us that are a bit "older". You may be a true Wolverine some day.

To quote Bawanna.. the system is broke..
A Russian arrives in New York City as a new immigrant to the United States .
He stops the first person he sees walking down the street and says, "Thank you Mr. American for letting me come into this country, giving me housing, food stamps, free medical care, and a free education!"
The passerby says, "You are mistaken, I am a Mexican."
The man goes on and encounters another passerby. "Thank you for having such a beautiful country here in America ."
The person says, "I not American, I Vietnamese."
The new arrival walks farther, and the next person he sees he stops, shakes his hand, and says, "Thank you for wonderful America !
That person puts up his hand and says,
"I am from Middle East. I am not American."
He finally sees a nice lady and asks, "Are you an American?"
She says, "No, I am from Africa ."
Puzzled, he asks her, "Where are all the Americans?"
The African lady checks her watch and says,
"Probably at work." http://www.ncgunowners.com/forum/images/smilies/facepalm.gif

Pathetically true....
I'm tired of obsessing over it. As garyb said, paraphrased, Relax and Enjoy Life.

If you work for yourself and never file a return the IRS doesn't know that you exist.

This. X plenty. I'm kinda getting tired of people talking about doing something, and accomplishing nothing or less. I'm getting about ready to start some stuff just to get it over with. Tired of hearing folks say come get some, well by God I think I just may.
