Thanks for sharing that:)
Gotta love it...there's some folks talking about the possibility of the Hellcat engine showing up in the Grand Cherokee SRT: http://www.torquenews.com/106/challenger-hellcat-jeep-grand-cherokee-will-slaughter-european-suvs
I wouldn't mind having the current GC SRT.

Well that aughta get you to the grocery store quick enough....I'm not a big MOPAR fan and my daddy always said don't ever pick a fight with a Chrysler product owner cause he's already pissed off but that bad boy would be fun to play with.......Unfortunately for those of us who are gear heads and loving the HP wars it's likely to come to an end soon like it did back in the early 70's with those smog motors that would barely run thanks to guess who, the EPA and the new impossible to meet CAFE fuel mileage standards that the auto makers are going to be forced to meet....
Ford is in the lead in that department by doing things like shaving 700 lbs off the F150 using an all aluminum body and by coming out with a fuel sipping 3 cylinder aluminum motor for the focus....I read where a Ford powertrain engineer but a 3 cylinder engine block in a suitcase and took it on an airline plane in a carry on bag to go to a trade show...GM and Chrysler are selling the crap out of trucks and hot rods right now but once again by doing what got them in trouble in the past they are living and selling for the present and not planning for the future by bringing out small fuel efficent and hybrid electric cars...While I love the Vettes, Camaros, Challengers, Silverados and Ram trucks they are going to be mandated out of production by "Big Brother" and GM and Chrysler better get on the stick beause this time there wont be a bail out because of their poor management foresight....

That is very Impressive and good to hear, my wife has a 2012 Mustang GT California Special that puts out 415 horse and it is one quick little car but it would be no match for that Hellcat.11287
One sad bit of news that is out now is Harley Davidson is now making an electric motorcycle

I've always thought that Dodge did a better job with the 'retro' pony car styling than Chevy or Ford. When you look at a new Challenger, you can really see a 1970 model. I hate that video though - drifting is a very slow way to get through a corner, even though it looks spectacular. It's a nice car, but I think I'll keep my 2010 Corvette with a mere 475 HP but almost 1000 pounds less weight.

Seven hundred pounds is not really that much of a weight loss in a five thousand pound vehicle. They could have done just as well with more high strength and hydro-formed steel and a better use of composites. A lot of experts also think the use of aluminum in the body of a work vehicle is a mistake because of the hard use many receive. I suppose time will tell. Trucks don't count in CAFE anyway.
As far as cars are concerned, ever hear of the Chevy Volt. It gets better mileage than any vehicle Ford builds. I have a friend who bought one over two years ago. She has a 28 mile daily commute and has only filled it with gas four times. If I didn't need the space in my Prius hatchback for work, I would have bought one three years ago. GM also built an EV fifteen years ago, the first of any modern American Company. I have a feeling that diesel engines are going to make more of a difference in meeting CAFE than anything else. Although I don't care for them, they are efficient.
BTW, Ford took a 9.1 billion bail-out from the government too and while both GM and Chrysler have essentially paid theirs back, the last I heard, Ford had only returned 100 million.

I haven't been following this for the last six months or so, I didn't see this article. If correct, it means that the government offered the stock for sale at a loss and GM bought the remainder of their stock back at the market price. The decision to sell when they did was entirely that of the government, and like any other stockholder, they could have held on for a better price later. In this case I can't fault GM for grabbing a bargain.
As I said, it's been about six months since I updated my information, but at that time Chrysler still owed one billion of the of eleven billion they borrowed and Ford owed about nine billion of the original loan of 9.1 billion from the Dept. of Energy. My source was the Wall Street Journal and Automobile Magazine.

Government Motors? Wonderful outfit. By the way what ever happened to the Cadillac Dolt. As far as that goes what ever happeded to the Cheebie Dolt? Never seen one except at a dealer a year or so ago. Poor guy was begging someone to buy it.

Why not "Bush" Motors since the program started in his administration. At any rate since the government no longer owns any stock, it's nobody's Motors now but the General.
The Chevy dealer near my home sells everyone they can get. The problem is that due to the cost, they don't build enough. Like I said, I would buy one in a heartbeat, if I didn't need the extra room in the Prius hatchback. Then I could spend all my gas money on the Corvette and SSR unless I took a road trip in the Volt.

Might be a good idea. I believe it's the only car they haven't recalled. Yet.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm a Chevy bowtie guy to the core and have owned no other vehicles but GM products since I started driving but if you want to talk about the Volt then do the math....It cost GM an estimated $89.000 to build one and they are selling for $40.000 if they can get somebody to buy one...Not a great business decision if your company is trying to bounce back from near extinction just a few years ago...The Volt isn't available and nobody wants one because the Prius is so much better technology so GM went back to the old school of race it Sunday and sell it Monday with the SS, Camaro, Vette and hot rod Cadillacs....GM makes great cars but they have no future vision and their business model seems to be fire ready aim....Poor business management decisions combined with the recall debacle of a problem with ignition switches they knew about for years combined with the lawsuits for the deaths caused by them will have GM back in bankruptsy court soon enough....

I disagree that the Prius has a better technology than Volt, and that comes after over 150,000 miles in two Priuses. After all, the principle involved with the Volt's hybrid system has been used in diesel locomotives and other HD vehicles for a hundred years, and has proved itself very efficient. I have driven a Volt and it is a far better car to drive than the Prius, and I much prefer the 40, plus or minus, mile range before using the engine. This means days or weeks of electric only driving depending on the driver's needs, but with the engine as an infinite range extender. The overnight charge is the downside, but I can live with it. What I can't live with is the range limitation of an electric only car. Cadillac will have their version of the Volt in 2015, but with an estimate cost of $75,000, it's beyond my price range for a daily driver. It will however, put more platforms on the road and help to defray original development cost.
My current Prius has 100,000 miles and I am looking for a replacement. Unfortunately, in my current situation, it will most likely be another Prius. The cars are probably the least entertaining automobile to drive on the road today, but I still need the space in the hatchback. I guess I'll have to live with 60 MPG for another few years.
