My wife finally decided she would like to take a firearms class and get her License To Carry Handgun [LTCH] for the state of Indiana. We filled out the form and set up the appointment for fingerprinting and sent it in. Next, I told her she could fondle, and shoot any of the guns in the safe and pick one she liked to call it hers. She narrowed it down to six that we took to the range yesterday. We shot .380, .38, 9mm, .40, .357 Sig and
.45. Again, she narrowed it down, to two this time. The finalists were my Kahr K40 and CW9. She finally opted for the CW9 because of the weight factor. I told her we could go gun shopping if nothing in the safe appealed to her. She now calls the CW9 hers.
After the range session, she actually wanted to learn how to field strip and clean the guns, which I helped her with.
This was all her idea. I didn't push her to do anything, I'm just helping her along after she made the decision. Though she wasn't anti-gun, she really didn't want anything to do with them before. I don't know why the change of heart but I'm glad and proud of her for making the decision and wanting to learn.:Amflag2::Amflag2: Have a great rest of the 4th Of July weekend!

Congrats! I am jealous TBH. My wife is not anti-gun either, in fact she has a BG380 and loves shooting it and the Ruger MKI Standard my dad gave me years ago. But I cannot convince her to take the class and get her CHP. I have offered to go to the class with her, and if she were to get her CHP to help her setup with ANYTHING she wanted for carry. No luck here. Enjoy your weekend also, we are headed out today to a friends property to stretch the legs on my SCAR :D

Good for her. Seriously. I hope you get her the best training possible; keep her shooting and confident in her gun handling skills. Good for you too.

I hope that you realize what a monster you're creating. Your shooting expenses are going to double. You'll have to be careful in choosing your words. No more kidding about her about her driving or those few extra pounds that she's put on. She'll be armed and dangerous now. Within a month she'll probably out shoot you. What hath man wrought? :)

Congrat's to your wife. I great when family turns that corner.
My girls and wife all decided one day it was time to CC also . Then the girls husbands took the class for there CC . My wife has always been a shooter with me as our first date involved shooting . . Our girls knew how to shoot from an early age but had never take'n to it till they became legal age . Guess society today has changed a lot of peoples out look. Now at family gathering every one over 21 is armed and has now rubbed off of on one of the mother -in-laws too. The ladys go to a monthly get together of the local chapter of " The Well Armed Women" and have training there and shooting each month . Even my oldest girls 8 year old was the best shooter of the day !! . Train um well when young and it pays .

After checking out my daughter's revolver, my ex thinks she want's one now. I tried to get her interested in shooting, or at least having a gun for self defense for over 20 years, and now she decides she wants one. I guess living on her own helped her decide it might be a good idea. I told her I'd find help find her a good deal on one, but she'll have to pay for it herself, since she took most of my money. Now to find something that will be more likely to jam than shoot. Muhahahahahaha. Just kidding. I'd find something reliable for her.

Excellent.
My wife isn't "real" gun person, but living with me quickly rubbed off enough that she got properly trained, maintains a CO carry permit, and has two handguns of her own....a .357 K-Frame and a 9mm Kahr.

It took exactly six day to get her LTCH. We filled out the paperwork electronically on 7-6-2014, she did the electronic fingerprints on 7-8-2014 and the license came in the mail today, 7-12-14. Indiana pretty much has it together for firearm licensing.
Now she's more interested in my S&W 642 instead of the CW9. She has trouble racking the slide on semi autos. I did put a Houge Monogrip on the 642 so it's a bit easier to shoot for her. I don't really care which one she chooses as long as she can get proficient with it.

Great all these females are also into firearms. My wife is also and has a concealed pistol permit. She has a S&W 9mm Shield and a Henry lever .22 youth model. Shoots both well. I get to clean them, however, just like filling up her car with gas and washing it...
