This is very cool story, I'm happy to see young people who are learning to shoot.

All I could tell from the shells as I paused the video, was that they were 1200 fps 1-oz loads of shot. What size I couldn't tell, but it wasn't for large animals... should have had slugs or 00 high-based loads. It took both guns-full to finish off the bear. That might not have stopped a determined LARGE bear, especially a grizzly!
Gutsy girl, for sure.

Well its what she had at hand , more than likely what she shoots in her shotgun events. Most people in mountain country have little use for buck shot. Maybe just the first thing close enough to do what was needed.
Well gathered up young lady.

She fired six shots at that bear and from how she said it stood up it was a fairly large bear. Seemed very calm and composed, taking care of business.

I would guess that the plugs were still in the magazines and that's why she grabbed both guns, figuring that 3 rounds of sporting ammo wouldn't be enough.

I wouldn't be surprised if the local game warden doesn't pay her a visit, as from her description the bear was not a threat to her, only that it tore a hole in the garage door.
Maybe I missed the part where the bear was intent on making her dinner.

I've always been told a wild animal doing damage to your personal property was fair game. Tearing the garage door up was like a home invasion. I haven't pushed it on the nice deer that been eating my grass lately as I enjoy looking at them though.
I don't think this applies to vehicles driving through game farms and such where the buffalo stick their head in the window and tear your headliner out and such.
