Our local YMCA which our dept and city helped fund and bring about has a no gun policy and won't make any exception for Law Enforcement. They don't want the officers to use the pool and lock their guns in the locker room.

The department bought special one gun safes to put in the patrol cars.

Far as I know none of the guys go to the Y anymore. They do use the lock boxes when they are called to the prison also here in town as they aren't allowed inside there armed.

The head person of the Y is also on the city council. Sheep indeed.

Quote: [Many shoppers, like Arthur Marshall, said that retailers' no-gun policies should "maybe have an exception for police officers."]

I think the policy should maybe have an exception for legal gun owners.

"And I am not going to lock my gun in a commercial parking lot, with people watching me put it in there. That's just ludicrous."

I totally agree with this statement, not only for police.

I hate Ikea, it's like Disney World for housewives. She did drag me there once, and I swore I'd never go again. And I did CC there, as I'm sure hundreds of law-abiding people do.

I did like this one response in the write up in the article and remember legally armed means your the bad guy in these times

911 what is your emergency?
This is the Ikea store we have a man with a gun who has taken hostages in the store.
Officers are on the way.
Tell them we are a weapon free area they have to leave their guns in their cars before entering the store!

Dispatch to all units responding to the man with a gun at the Ikea, Disregard.

I really don't care what the sign on the door say about "no weapons". I'm a law abiding citizen with no record of arrest or violence. If you carry your legal weapon as you should, concealed, and are not a trouble causer, nobody will bother you or really cares. They would just prefer not to know. Trust me, if there was a violent situation that escalated to the point that your CC deterred violence or saved their lives, they would sing a different tune. I go to my bank and various businesses weekly while carrying and it causes no problems and I don't even think about it. CC should be exactly what it says "Concealed". God bless all you legally carrying guardians of our loved ones.

If you try to assemble one of those pieces of #$% she brings home from Ikea, be sure THAT area is "Weapon Free"

A sheriff deputy told me one time " if you have a permit and carry concealed whos gonna know if you have it or not at a dept store or restaurant? Better judged by 12 than carried by 6."

Recently someone posted about a card that was given to managers of business that posted no weapons signs. The card had some statistics on it and was given to the manager as the reason for card giver to not staying and doing business there, such as in a restaurant.
Can someone point me to that post, I can't figure out the correct search terms to find it.

I have mixed feelings about those cards. It's a quiet, subtle way to communicate without being "in your face" about it. But most will probably get thrown away unread. Of those that get read, will the person reading it have the slightest clue what the card is talking about?

I guess it's like junk mail, if the success rate is 1%, it's worth the effort?

That rats nest store is for the pinky finger crowd. Urinate on IKEA and the lick boots that shop there in that festering anus of society. If they called in for service and asked me to disarm I would tell them to solve the issue themselves, never call 911 again or be arrested for false calls and leave.
