After the Boston bombing the news media has spent days and weeks trying to determine why these men did what they did. They want to know what America did to make these brothers so angry with us.



They want to know why these men were not arrested before they did something so terrible. The media are in a tizzy about this new era of homegrown radicals, and about why they could live among us and still hate us.

A friend of mine from Texas explained it all to me: “Here in west Texas I have rattlesnakes on my place, living among us. I have killed a rattlesnake on the front porch. I have killed a rattlesnake on the back porch.
I have killed rattlesnakes in the barn, in the shop and on the driveway. In fact, I kill every rattlesnake I encounter.

I kill rattlesnakes because I know a rattlesnake will bite me and inject me with poison. I don’t stop to wonder why a rattlesnake will bite me; I know it will bite me because it's a rattlesnake and that's what rattlesnakes do.
I don’t try to reason with a rattlesnake…I just kill it. I don’t try to get to know the rattlesnake better so I can find a way to live with the rattlesnakes and convince them not to bite me. I just kill them. I don’t quiz a rattlesnake to see if I can find out where the other snakes are, because (a) it won’t tell me, and (b) I already know they live on my place. So, I just kill the rattlesnake and move on to the next one.

I don’t look for ways I might be able to change the rattlesnake to a non-poisonous rat snake...I just kill it.
Oh, and on occasion, I accidentally kill a rat snake because I thought it was a rattlesnake at the time.
Also, I know, for every rattlesnake I kill, two more are lurking out there in the brush.
In my lifetime I will never be able to rid my place of rattlesnakes. Do I fear them? No!

Do I respect what they can do to me? Yes! And because of that respect I give them the fair justice they deserve.... I kill them...”

Maybe as a country we should start giving more thought to the fact that these Jihadists' are just like rattlesnakes, and act accordingly"

I love this country; it's the damn government I'm afraid of!

I live in NJ, never seen a rattlesnake but have had encounters with Great whites and Mako's. I'd rather face of with the snake....:)

The problem with your analogy is from a distance a gopher snake or water snakes can look like a rattler. Pushed and it will bit you just not deadly. Got be sure it a rattler first. That means you gota get close to be sure. Kill the wrong is not a wise move.

Might be a straight up honest member of the society and killing the wrong snake makes you just as bad as the rattler !! Eat a lot a rattles in my day , fried up with the cat fish. Always let the water snakes go on. They tend to control some of the population of dangerous snake too.

Their uncle said on tv what the problem was. They failed to assimilate into american society and were losers and his familey didnt associate with them. Plain and simple.

seems like illegals and rattlesnakes are very prevfelantin Texas, U can keep um both. Right now it seems here in Indiana,a that Indianapolis is in a tight race with chicago for the most kllings this year. We are so pround of that label to and to top it off this next week is BLACK EXPO Week in Indy, 5 cops on ever corner, horse back cops everywhere, motor cops everywhere,, every off duty cop walking the streets in civilian cloths. Oh yes this is a very non violent BLACVK EXPO. We are just doing this to show the out of town expo folks how clean our horses are and how eatly dressed our cops are. Just sayin This is not the week to visit Indianapolis if ur of any color but black.. Mre than likely a half dozen willdie over that week at least. as just a week ago, 7 eople were shot in Indy along a crowded street area full of bars, for no reason than utter that someone bumped into autter person and the bullets started flying.. Just sayin

I agree wholeheartedly with downtown's post. I, too, will kill every rattler that is in my space. And, I can tell the difference from other snakes. For close up work I prefer a shovel...;)

I use bird shot in either a 22 pistol or a 38, from just out of striking distance. No more than 5 foot. They are deadly, it usually only takes 1 but sometimes 2 for good measure. When shot in the head it usually breaks their jaw so they couldn't strike if they didn't die with the first shot.

You guys start talking about snakes and I found a 2 foot copperhead in my garage this morning. I have not seen 1 for 2 years and now one comes into the garage. Well he isn't there anymore because I got my 22 rifle out and loaded 1 birdshot. I shot him right where he was coiled up inside the garage door. 1 shot, 1 dead copperhead........then I threw it out under a very large rock by my driveway. I'll have to start carrying my gun while working in the yard. A snake killed my dog
