For all you guys that know me I’m always making something. The other day I was getting ready to melt down some wheel weights but I had a idea the day before, it was all the steel clips that you get. I used to pull them out with a spoon and you always pull lead out doing that so I thought about a magnet. So using what I had on hand I made this up, for the box I used some aluminum flashing that was laying around and a piece of wood for the handle the box was a little bigger than the magnet. The magnet I had from one of those gizmos that pick up nails that I don’t use anymore, pulled the screw out of the bottom and the magnet came out and had a steel rod with inside threads to attach the magnet to. Nothing was hot when I shot the pictures so no gloves. So I had my little tool made up time to see how it worked, it worked GREAT just lower the little pan over the lead and the steel clips just stuck to it move over to my metal bucket lifted the magnet they all fell off. Cost to me 0 had all the stuff laying around a little time to make it and made getting the clips out very easy and fast and not pulling any lead with it. So if you are like me and have stuff around it’s well worth it. Much faster than using a spoon

Because the clips are lighter than the lead they float on the surface. I took them out with a pair of needle nosed pliers, Simple is as simple does. (Did that come out right?) Less muss, no fuss :)

But but muggsy a man with your wisdom and experience to pull one clip at a time takes a long time, by the time you get one out I get fifty out and on my last run I pulled thirteen lbs of steel clips out. That’s along time with needle nose pliers (just sayin) oh forgot Jocko back in town
Hey Happy Birthday you old sailor :):)

Great idea. I don't work with wheel weights, but sounds like a plan. Thanks Harry.

We have long cold winters in Cleveland. We all huddle around the Lee precision melting pot to keep warm. I'm in no hurry. I'm retired. :) Thanks for the good birthday wishes.

Harry, i think you need a handle for that magnet, i`ve got an 8 ball from an old pool table, will that work?
