I was having some slight issues with my MK9 frame rusting due to carrying in our hot Oklahoma summers so I got it Cerakoted (didn't want any fancy design, just gray, close to the original stainless color). Turned out great. Now the hard part, getting it all put back together.

Scalpel Arms in Carrolton, TX did the work, he's done several gun's for my friend Jamie and I highly recommend. http://scalpelarms.com/

Congrats. That's one way to address a problem. Good luck on your re-assembly.

I've not had a "problem" with rust on my stainless pistols, but I have noticed a bit on the frames under the grips. I got my TPH .22LR really dunked in saltwater and cleaned it up and rinsed it out. It only showed tiny bits of discoloration many years later... maybe 10 or so... when I took it apart again before selling it.

All of my carry and defense pistols are polymer-framed now and I haven't noticed any rust on the pins or springs.

Most of it was under the grip on the side that is against my body. Also had a tiny bit on the side of the slide near the fiery death end. The MK9 was my first carry gun (first love) so I plan on keeping it a very long time and wanted to get it resolved before it got any worse.

When OK passed the open carry law and I no longer had to worry so much about printing, I started carrying my G19 daily (more capacity). I carry the MK9 on occasion when I need to be very deep concealed.

Good job! A gun is a terrible thing to waste. ;)

The only tricky part is the trigger assembly. The rest is a piece of cake.

Looks Good TD, Please do NOT post any leftover parts in the classified, as you are not supposed to have any....

That will look absolutely wicked when you get it back together. Good call.

Gonna try to tackle it this weekend.

Kinda bummed up the sights during the removal. Good excuse to order some trijicon, huh?!?! (and a sight tool) Waiting to order them until I see if I lose/break/maim any other parts during reassembly.
