I posted here not long ago about an issue with a used P380 I recently got. I was having trouble with some of the magazines I have and traced it to the followers. After buying 8 followers that were different than the ones I have and that wouldn't work with the mods they did to the slide stop lever I was finally told the followers I had that are required to function with the modified slide release were modified by them and they would send some out for my 4 malfunctioning mags. I still haven't got an answer as to what reason they had for modifying parts to only work with custom magazines, from what I can tell it doesn't offer anything the stock parts don't. When I finally got the followers they offered to send out I was disappointed they only sent 2 when I said I was having problems with 4 mags. If that wasn't enough, they sent standard followers that I already had a bunch of in my efforts to find the correct ones. Fortunately I had ordered everything I needed to return it to stock and hopefully allow it to work with normal mags. So far it has been fairly reliable, I'm not completely satisfied yet but I hope after some more rounds I can be confident in its reliability.

until now. After running some rounds with no problems I decided to give it a quick cleaning. I pulled the slide off, did my normal field cleaning and went to put it back together. Things were hanging up and a few things didn't seem quite right. There seemed to be more of the striker sticking through the breech face and things just didn't seem right. I got the slide on and when running the trigger without it cocked something was pushing on the slide causing it to rock. Then I dry fired it and got a dull click. Took the slide off and found the striker still cocked. Took the backing plate off the slide with some trouble because it still had pressure on it. Sure enough the tip of the firing pin had broke off. What I found strange is it worked well the last time I had fired live rounds and sounded normal when dry firing it but somehow, something in the disassembly process finally broke or dislodged what I suspect to be an already faulty part.

I'm not ready to give up on the Kahr lineup yet. I have 2 9mm Kahrs that I am completely happy with. Customer service by phone was disappointing, when I called a few years ago with a question about my P9 I never got much of an answer but because it wasn't important I dismissed it. Trying to get an answer to my question by phone this time was not happening. I will give them that they have no idea what the person calling knows so getting the gun in their hand before answering is probably best for them but as far as trying to figure out the problem with the followers I would have appreciated an attempt at an answer. I ordered all the parts to rebuild the slide and I'll go from there. I'm not sure how many more problems I can take before giving up on this gun. I'm not ready to give up on the brand and being I bought used to save a couple bucks (any savings is long gone after all the parts I have bought with extra ammo on top to diagnose the problem and see if it is reliable) I don't know the true history of the gun. Prior owner calmed under 2k and I have under 500 rounds so either way wear doesn't seem likely. I saw some other threads about similar issues and the way mine went out seems to jive with the few others that had it happen. Sounding like a faulty part that may break part way but still function before fully breaking.

should have the parts in a week or 2, I like the feel of this gun and I hope it functions at a level to earn my confidence in it. I'll follow up when something happens.

Yep, that's definitely a broken striker. First I've seen posted on this forum. This proves once again that nothing in life is perfect except, for me and Jocko. :)

Well, at least you're modest. Had done quite a lot of dry firing without snap caps but couldn't imagine it causing that. Have done quite a bit of dry fire with my 9mm Kahrs but use caps most of the time. Being used I can't pinpoint what could have led to it failing or maybe it was just a faulty piece, actually seems more likely. Oh well, it's all easy to replace, going to freshen up all the parts in the slide and run it hard, hope it can earn the same faith that I have in my p/pm's. I now have a box of .380 ACP snap caps so I can rule that out if there are future problems.
