View Full Version : New Gun Dilemma
I have a dilemma on my hands. Looking for a new carry gun & narrowed it down to 3. Used (like new) Kahr CM 9, New Kahr CW 380, & the new Glock 42. all 3 are close in size , weight & all have 6+1. Price are close CM 9 $395, CW 380 $365 Glock $459- $499. What or which one would you pick.
Thanks Mike
PS tried to add poll but do not know how.

If size and capacity differences are negligible in your opinion, I would choose 9mm over .380.

Kahr cm9 I would say. Its very reliable, its a 9mm. For deep cover I would get the cw380 because its smaller.

I wouldn't buy a CM9 at that price. I have seen them around here NIB for around $330. For me, it would be the reason behind the purchase. If you want a pocket pistol, then one of the 380s would suffice. If you wanted something that packs a punch, fits in the pocket or comfortably IWB, then go with the CM9.

Remember with the Glock's lighter trigger, you will have to use a holster with it.
I daily carry a CM9 in my pocket. My CW .380 is too small & used as occasional back-up only. My CW 45 is IWB when I don't pocket carry. CM9 with a good price and warranty would be my choice. I never considered a Glock just because I do not like them and agree with DeaconKC on above post.

You sort of knew you weren't going to get a Glock recommendation on KahrTalk didn't you?

If you are inferring that his other choices, the CM9 and the CW380, can be safely carried in a pocket without a holster, I absolutely disagree.

+1. I cringe when I see anyone carry a pocket gun with no holster.
If it were me I'd get the CW 380, because that's a gun always with you if you need it.
I plan to OWB carry the one I get. As far as CM 9 price I can order on line for $338 + shipping + $25 Fl. transfer fee, so would be $370.

I carried in pocket without a holster for years with no problems. I carried AIWB without a holster for years without any problems. Of course, you have to be mindful of what you are doing and that isn't a common practice now days. I do recommend using a holster that covers the trigger no matter how you carry.

Since you'll carry OWB I'd go with the CM9.

Carry without a holster, and who cares about you, it's everyone else that's in danger. I wouldn't purchase any of them. Get a new one.

As much as I like my PM9 (I pocket carry it nearly every day over my .380 and .45) I would not pick it or the three choices you mentioned if I were to only carry OWB. However, of those three, if I had too, I'd choose the CM9.

Again $338 = shipping + $25 transfer looking at 375-380. The 395 is negotinable

MikeMine came to $375 and pennies with the sales tax. LGS, so no FFL transfer fee and they don't charge for background ck...

Saw on Gunbroker that Keely Arms has CM9 "blem" for $296 + $8.99 shipping and no cc fee. Just bought a CM9 and a CW380 from them. Great service, Patrick runs a tight ship. Have been carrying an E9 and wanted to try something smaller/lighter.
