I'm not sure what you mean by "how to unlock the slide on a 44 cal. eagle ", so here are a couple of guesses:

If the slide is locked back, you can release it by pushing down on the slide stop lever located above the grip on the left side of the pistol (pistol pointed away from you). This can be difficult to do if there is an empty magazine in place (removing the magazine will make it much easier to do).

If you want to take the slide off:
Make sure the pistol is empty
Push and hold the button located above the front of the trigger guard on the left side of the pistol.
Holding the button in, rotate the lever (located above the front of the trigger guard on the opposite side of the frame) down.
Be careful of the barrel when doing this as it will pop out of the frame when you rotate the lever.
Lift the barrel out of the frame.
The slide can now be removed by pushing it forward and off the frame.
